patent of military technology

can some body tell me on patent procedure for a military technology. how a civilian obtain a patent for a product which is completely targeted for military usage like a totally new type of assault rifle.

Patent for anything whether military equipment can be obtained by either an individual or by a corporation. There is no limitation on who can apply for a patent for what thing.

speaking generally you can either obtain a local patent or a global patent...global patents are generally very costly.

getting patent is it self a lengthy process. it costs lot of money. lets say i designed something that is a improvement in existing technology. theoretical ideas and technical calculations shows it totally feasible and effective. so can i get patent on this idea it self without being experimentally tested it because i don't have the means to practically test it.
or can i contact any R&D company which works in military tech for funds like DRDO?
which one is viable option?

well in your case going to a suitable company would be good idea, who can help you or adopt your system by patenting it for you and u can get royalties for it.

In medicine industry this happens a lot, a single guy or a team of people formulate a new medicine and the companies patents the formula and the doctors or pharmacists or bio tech engineers get then royalties for the rest of their lives.

Filing for patent should not be dificult. Search for the patent office---or find an attorney who deals in patents filings.

i got really valuable information. it gave me confidence to work on it. design and calculation part is over but fabrication and testing is remaining because on paper every thing works fine but in practice you don't know whats coming to you.
