Its the new 1500 hp diesel engine

Guys comments and latest news
Lol - talk about timing. One of the articles I published today on my site argued ... "License-manufacturing the KMDB 6TD-2 1200hp diesel engine or perhaps even getting KMDB to develop a new 1500hp engine uniquely applied to Pakistan’s conditions would not be an inherently bad idea."

Whether they buy the Oplot M or not, Pakistan should certainly consider picking up the 1500hp 6TD with ToT. @Horus We can easily scale the engine to the Haider, al-Khalid 2, and even retrofit al-Khalid/AK-1.

I think its an excellent idea.

Yes engine should definately come but I also hope OPLOT M would also come. It's great Tank if engine issue resolved

Al Khalid II in is cold storage for a long time, We can produce any modern tank with ToT. Currently only issue with enigine and other sub systems. In current situation most probably Pakistan will go for Chinese Type 99.

Additionally, even if we could afford it, would Germany sell it to Pakistan?

Money can get you anything, trust me. However, I am not so sure those tanks would be a wise investment anyways. Prone to sanctions, expensive, and not suited for the environment.

Still dreaming of Type 99A....It is more realistic to take T-84M. Type 99 is not for selling before next generation tank got mass produced

Excellent idea. I hope people at the helm of affairs are thinking on these lines as well. A local production setup with ToT engine will go a long way in developing our armored corps . The effects of any such deal go beyond Haider or AK-II MBT.

We may start working on something along the lines of "Universal Combat Platform". A same/similar basic platform for MBT, APCs, IFV (that we are in dire need of), Engineering and recovery vehicle. It will give an excellent base to build on (and we have quite a few sub systems that we are already good with and are producing already) and take our army to the next level to face the challenges of coming DECADES! The PLUS point is, unlike the wishes of heavier frigates, nuclear subs or bigger JF17s, this is all achievable and is within our budget as well as within our technological limits. We are already producing all the systems separately, with a engine in place, we just need to put the right things together. It will be more about administration/management then about money unlike the other mentioned wishes.

I seriously wish they men who matter are thinking on these lines as this surely will be a great achievement and go a long way in paving way to the future.

hello all
Sir we need almost 3 "weight" types of tanks according to our train and enemy .
1. Tank abs Weight 45 to 48 Tons " lighter for Punjab minimum 1000 to counter 2000 T72 Indian tanks
2 . Al- Khalid 2 Weight 50 to 52 Tons medium Tank for almost all trains 1000 to counter 1300 to 1500 T90s of India
3 . Al- Haider Weight 53 to 56 Tons Heavy Tank for Deserts 500 to 750 to counter Indian Heavy Arjun and to give a tooth breaking offence .
Thoughts from all of You
Thank you all

I think it's unkind to keep picking on our teeth. Why don't you fire your guns and twirl your tanks without threatening an already threatened bite?

Any new updates?

I thought the Oplot M failed the trails...? So why are people still talking about it?
