Parvez Elahi to become CM Punjab - PTI

The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has announced PML-Q leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as its candidate for Punjab chief minister, the party formally announced.

In a message on Twitter, the prime minister's aide on political communication, Shahbaz Gill, made the announcement.

Its better to announce early elections rather than offering CMship to these sold-ables. I have no comment on whatsoever going on btw Q and PTI but making Buzdhar CM of Punjab was the biggest blunder. If you want to rule Pakistan you have to rule Punjab with a strong CM that has or should've got a serious competence level in controlling bureaucracy. Apart from all this, it seems like in Khan's direction, Chaudry's intentionally prolonged this whole process of dealing with Khoota-league so that Imran will gain and show his public strength to Panda sitting in GHQ lol -- Tajarbakaar tola phir se 3 saal politics karnay walay say bezat "As usual". I must say Khan should offer COAS seat to Chaudry as well and fire this extension wala shaks who has no use. In fact, his defensive doctrine literally costs us a lot on IBs / IF. Apparently, the perpetual behavior of this man is consistently damaging us.

It is strategically a good call. It would settle Punjab down and possibly get the MQM back as well. I think IK wants another 8-12 months to settle things down as much as possible before calling elections when he is on the rise. This would really bury the opposition. There are no angels in politics and one will always have to deal with sellable people. Better to have them on his side for the moment.

Apparently the PPP is delighted with this decision because they also wanted Pervez Elahi as Punjab CM so that PML N especially and PTI gets weakened in Punjab. Now that PTI has appointed Pervez Elahi themselves as Punjab CM, they may rethink supporting PML N in the no confidence motion, when the Sharif brothers were stubbornly refusing to make Pervez Elahi the CM of Punjab, PPP had told PML-N that they were then going to be out of the NCV in the NA.

IMO, Imran Khan shouldn’t have gave cm to Parvez Elahi. Khan should have stood his ground and made no comprises. If allies didn’t like it they can join PDM. Khan if he lost no confidence right now but didn’t make any compromises imo he would come back with majority next election.
As a pti supporter 1 thing I hate about pti is they make such allegations then take a u turn an go against those allegations.

I still support Imran Khan but imo he shouldn’t have gave Elahi CM because Imran Khan’s whole narrative was not bending to pressure whether from allies or foreign.

Q-League has been an asset of Establishment since Mushy's days. This move will hurt N-League to some extent by influencing some voters in North Punjab towards Q-League. Keeping Buzdar as CM for as long as this has ensured that PTI has improved its chances in Seraiki areas.

Let us see what how this figures in the longer run once Pervez Elahi gets voted in as CM Punjab, if it happens at all.

Its the right call. Remember Eelection commission of N league has already stopped working on EV plus over seas Pakistanis vote
PDM if win would have also appoint the next army chief. Previous one was their appointed as well. In 6 months time ik can make sure EV and the right of over seas pakistanis gets incorporated and also he appoints the next chief which should ideally be Gen Faiz.
He can then call for next elections to make certain he is able to win a 2/3rd and be able to do required changes in law such as that pathetic 18th amendment that zardari is using to loot and plunder
