Partition 70 years on: When tribal warriors invaded Kashmir

@Acknowledge

All future wars between India and Pakistan will be fought on Pakistani territory.

It will always useful to have a Plan B. OK both Rafales and Convents....

Regards

Not advice. This happened 70 years ago. I was pointing out that the raiders achieved nothing.

As for the attacks, have you seen the dates? And what happened in the Rann of Kutch?

Lastly, are you aware that staying independent was not an option for the princes? And that this dated from 1931?

With all due respect, I deal with historical facts, not with emotional breast-beating.
Only thing the tribal invaders achieved was forcing the maharaja to sign instrument of accession and forcing sheikh Abdullah, the most popular leader of his time to align himself with India.. Tribal invaders are the reason we have Kashmir valley today.

Yes Because They Started It.Indians Love To Tell Half The Story Why Don't They Talk About The Great Jammu Massacre Which Happened A Month Earlier In Which Hindu and Sikh Extremists Entered From Outside Massacred Around Half A Million Muslims

Now you forgot the begining of the story. Sikhs and Hindus took revenge of Ten Million of their brothererns which were butchered in Pakistani Punjab by your ancesters.

btw were you from Aryans or Dravidians clans ?

Or you are one, from the confused lot, who can't decide their ancestry.

Without contesting your principled stand, which I admire at the level of ideals without supporting the objectives, one matter of fact needs to be placed before you.

The raiders were not randomly assembled tribesmen carrying their own arms. They were demobbed ex-servicemen to whom were issued the surplus arms that came to Pakistan's share of the division of assets. It was not at all a spontaneous tribal uprising in defence of the faith; it was, as happened again and again and again in the future, a carefully planned action of the Pakistan Army, carried out under the noses of the British. I would like to think that they were unaware of what was going on under their noses, but the actions of Alexander Brown shows the protective and nurturing attitude of the British towards Pakistan.

The 'little empire game' was certainly being played, but on behalf of Pakistan and for her benefit.

As far as I know, they consisted of both ex-servicemen and yes indeed random assembled tribesmen. Announcers were sent to villages asking for men to fight in Kashmir. It wasn't a spontaneous uprising, I believe it started to be organised with the belief that the Maharaja was already planning to accede to India.

The history of the Dogra state and it's heavy handed tactics in putting down it's Muslim subjects made it clear to Pakistani/Kashmiri leaders that the Maharaja would never be just in his dealings with Muslims. We had already seen their heavy handed actions in 1930s, and before that. We had seen through extensive contact with Kashmiri Muslims through the Kashmir committee about their status and the bigoted rulers that ruled over them. It was naturally expected that with the founding of Pakistan, the Muslim majority state would be acceded to Pakistan.

I won't shy away from what happened, it was not acceptable for us for a Muslim majority region, especially such that persecuted it's Muslim subjects, would be allowed to remain independent at best, or accede to India at worse, as was suspected, including by Sir Zafrullah Khan. And I trust that man's word when he speaks about political situation of the subcontinent and the Pakistani point of view on Jammu and Kashmir.

For the love of God, please don't. I'm begging you....

Next thing you know we will have a obituary thread on pdf, people will be commenting 'death to 7 lakh occupiers' and some moron is gonna have a pic of your dead kid as profile pic ..........and as usual when a terrorist gets killed, I'll be having a corona

Re-read post #22.

And there is no greater glory than to fight and die for your nation and faith. Doesn't bother me what you drink.

So proud of my grandfather who was one of those who helped liberate Azad Kashmir. I will raise my next generations to finish the task my grandfather left half completed. InshAllah.

And thanks to the warriors from the Tribal areas. We are in your debt.
what are your thought about stopping to loot/rape/kill that gave India time to fly in enough forces to defend sri nagar...
and does any of your extended family talk about 'war booty' as mentioned in the article?

Most of these tribes r now fighting your army in tribal areas
really!
which world are you living in.
none of them supports RAW backed terrorists.
and for your information they don't know anything about India, they call you hindus and banya.

10 million? It's an established fact by sources both sides of the border that the partition casualties were at a million. As for the rest, what has Kashmir got to do with the violence that happened in Punjab?

As for the the thread my entire elder generation fought in the first Kashmir war, and this was after having come back from the brutal fighting in Burma and Malaya, having been part of the British Indian army.

It was in response to the exaggerated figure quoted below. Where number of displaced people were falsely assumed being massacred

Tell me another joke Kid, we believe Kashmir is / was our integral part and now tell me how can you say that all future wars would be on Pakistani ground. In case you are talking about proxy wars then let me know you are declaring your own motherland terrorist because on terrorist and terror supporting countries doing that for which we are blaming Pakistan since long time but now people like you (retard) and you P.M himself declaring to the world that it is not Pakistan but India who supports terrorism.

In any case stop war mongering and try not to portray India war monger nation because we are not war lords we were and are people of peace never attacked any country check history but accept all invaders and made them Indian with love, compassion and culture.

They were Pakistanis.
In which unit was he deputed? My Grandfather was in 9 AKRF.

Flushed with victory, the tribesmen got down to wanton looting and arson.

"They plundered the state armoury, set entire markets on fire and looted their goods," Mr Rahman says.

"They shot everyone who couldn't recite the kalima - the Arabic-language Muslim declaration of faith. Many non-Muslim women were enslaved, while many others jumped in the river to escape capture."

The streets were littered with signs of mayhem - broken buildings, broken shop furniture, the ashes of burnt goods and dead bodies, including those of tribal fighters, state soldiers and local men and women. There were also bodies floating in the river.

"It was a good victory. We were able to occupy a considerable part of Kashmir but we still lost most of it. It made one feel sad, like when you lose a part of your house,"

His father, who went in with a band of friends to fight during the previous season, "came back defeated".

"They brought back war booty though; gold and some women," he chuckles.

"They had returned with war booty," he says.

"Some had brought cattle, some horses. Most of them had brought arms, and many brought women. One Afridi tribesman walked back with two women in tow. They wept incessantly and just wouldn't stop. A local feudal lord took pity on them and forced the Afridi man to release them."

The invasion not only traumatised a previously well-settled and peaceful Kashmiri society, it also set a disastrous pattern for India-Pakistan relations.
