Where do you think Pakistanis got their cousin marrying genes from?

Cheets, Doc

Yeah but there are 220 million Pakistani

If there were only 18,000 parsis when you came and now there are only 150,000 aren't you just like hillbillies screwing your own blood relations over and over again for centuries?

Pretty much yes.

Very intelligent ladida rich Hillbillies.

We do tend to stop at first cousins though.

Even though they do happen.

Look on the bright side.

Every royal family of the ancient world practised incest.

Across cultures and geographies.

Cheers, Doc

But that a real issue with the community well beyond subcontinent borders. I know a whole bunch of Parsis who are now marrying beyond religion simply because the pool is few and far in between - there has to be some reformist who looks back and sees examples to let the community grow beyond otherwise it will eventually wither away.

On the subject in Pakistan, both factors of the above and western migration of most parsis due to the higher education involved means that eventually they wont matter at all.

There isn’t much in the way of representation either, there are Christian and Hindu members of National Assembly and you see representatives in the media talking of community improvement. There is nothing from Parsis whether from being jaded or otherwise. Most may have given up on Pakistan or those that stay are either out of compulsion or they are well settled.

Oddly, I have seen very few cases of Parsi discrimination simply because the majority I know are of the highly educated category out of Karachi which has the most integrated community - Screaming out “Abay Dinshaw kya kar raha hai yahan par?” in Karachi will draw no stares or otherwise unlike other parts of the country (as wont “yara mukesh or Jacob”)

Cousin Marriages are permitted in Islam, that is the biggest reason why people still marry within family, not from your parsis traditions, stop making your community sounds more important and relevant then they deserve.

With no offense intended, we are wasting FAR too much time over a population in our country the size of a city block.
There are no issues between Parsis in Pakistan, and the rest of the population.

The population in India doesn't count for us. Whatever the past history may have been. There has been only two significant instances of Parsis fighting Muslims in India. Rustom Dorabji colluded with the British to fight the Muslim Siddis in Gujarat in the 18th century. Kondaji Farzand had tried to infiltrate the Siddis as a fifth column but failed.

It was 200 years later that Walrus Sam refused to pursue our Civil War into our Western front citing "heavy casualties ". Must give him credit for being a sportsman and a gentleman, knowing when he was beaten, and to stop when the going was good. He turned up two months later for a territory swap with Gen. Tikka Khan whom he dubbed a " fine soldier". That is where it ended. He called Indira Gandhi " sweetie" with the "memsaab" frowning and told her the Pakistanis had made a "monkey out of her" at the Simla Summit .
Whatever Walrus Sam may have thought as he saw the enemy he "beat" develop into the severest threat his nation had ever seen is irrelevant. He was not fighting a religious war and like Lt. Col. Tarapore fighting against India in the Nizam's forces would have gladly fought for Pakistan if he had ended up serving with us.
Since then Parsis in India have always supported secular forces and their large business houses like Tatas, Godrej, Oberoi, practice no discrimination in employment of Muslims. Parsi jurists like A. Seervai and Soli Sorabjee have been scathing in their condemnation of the rise of Hindutva fascism in India. Police officers like K. F. Rustomji did much quash communal riots and instill confidence in minorities during their service.

Regardless of what one single contributor on the PDF writes, the Parsis world over have no quarrels with Muslims or Islam as such. The proof is in the several instances of intermarriages between Muslims and Parsis with no cries of revenge and communal hysteria. Within India the Parsis have gone so far as to defend Muslims being persecuted by a bigoted administration. ( Link )

The Parsis are a fine people and it is up to them to find a solution to their demographics. We should leave them to their destiny, but Muslims all over will be much poorer off with the eclipse of these people, who have always stood up for them the world over.

After reading this thread, why do I get this feeling a general dislike that Pakistanis have for other Pakistani citizens which happened to be Parsis?

One of posters even suggested that all of Pakistani Parsi citizens should have gone to India in 1947.

It is also hinted in a suggestive way that Parsis should be greatful that thier girls are not forcibly converted & married.

Are we really that much racist?

Leaving the dismemberment of your then young nation by a Parsi and the wife of a Parsi, there are two very famous and we'll documented Parsi Muslim riots in Bombay in the 18th century. Ostensibly something to do with your prophet and drawings in a very popular Parsi journal that was frequently read by the goras as well.

Then of course there was the battle with the advancing Mughal army in Gujarat as Parsis broke their bow to the Hindus and picked up arms once more as a Parsi army met the Mughal forces in battle alongside the Rajput forces.

Later after the fire was protected for decades in the caves of Bahrot within the forests of Vansda, Parsis started moving settlements south towards what is now Maharashtra (well before the move to the fishermen islands of Mumbai).

Here rich Parsi traders (ancestral trade with China of silk and spices continued out of India as well) raised large monies and an army of Parsi men and boys for Shivaji's campaigns into Gujarat.

Interestingly, one of the generals in that army was an ancestor from my clan, followed 4 centuries later by a general in the modern Indian Army.

As I've told you guys earlier, do not gauge Parsis by the small captive Muslim surrounded group you have lingering there.

If you want to know what Parsis and Muslims really are like, come to India.

Or till then, read my posts.

Either way it's a whole lot more credible that a son and his ageing mother in Balochistan waxing eloquent about how much they love the people and how good the people have been to them.

I mean ... let's get real. What do you really expect them to say.

Cheers, Doc

No buddy.

It's not about race.

If it were, the Hindus wouldn't love us as they do.

Think harder.

Mere hriday se aapki ore sahanubhooti ki baucchaar prakat ho rahi hai.

This is all you can come up with in the absence of a single war victory.

And then you cry when generations of Indians march out memes and photos of the largest military surrender since WWII every time to remind you who's the boss.

You guys should be happy that was a more genteel a more chivalrous time, with Brit trained and served officers still leading the forces.

You can rail and rant against the great man all you want (the trophy was the barb about the matriculate ... that really cracked me up and I'm sure Sam was chuckling up there as well with his brandy) history will remember him as the Persian general who led his Indian troops to victory and broke Pakistan in two.

And Bhabha and Sethna would complete the holy triad for the Hindu nation.

Jai Hind. Jai Sri Ram.

Táhám-tán zánám.

Cheers, Doc
