Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar informed Parliamentarians recently that ” “The ball is in France’s court, and Dassault have to confirm if they agree to our terms since India will Stick to RFP Clauses and have refused to compromise on terms and conditions .

While Indian Air force repeatedly has told Ministry of Defence and Defense minister that they have “No Plan B ” if MMRCA deal collapses, without Such backup plans given by IAF, Parrikar is already working on his own Plan B according to officials.

Parrikar wants to get FGFA ahead of schedule and wants an early agreement with Russians on this , India and Russia are working together to draft Final contract so that work can start on FGFA and India might also agree to buy first lot of Pak-Fa Single seater Russian variant if MMRCA deal is not finalised .

While IAF is not in favour of additional Sukhoi-30 over Rafale, Parrikar is left with two choice said Defence expert Vinayak Shetty, One is to open Second Production line for Tejas MK-II 2020 onwards so that at least 24 aircrafts are produced each year, IAF is also in favour of Second production line for Tejas MK-II which can produce 8 aircrafts from second line so that 24 aircrafts can be produced each year , but IAF is not able to convince Private players for second production line since IAF still cannot commit orders for Second production line .

if we are looking at replacing Migs in 1 to 1 ratio then IAF will require close to 400 MK-II aircrafts said Vinayak Shetty, even with two production line it will take a decade just to produce 240 aircrafts, then there is always chance that technology will be outdated midway in production, IAF have to put final figure for MK-II or commit higher aircrafts for second production line with scope for developing MK-3 variants.

Second option which Parrikar has already talked about is to increase orders for Su-30 which is already produced in India with ” Super 30 upgrade package ” so that IAF too is on-board such arrangement which will provide improvements in Avionics and radar to keep technology and aircraft relevant for next few decades to come till FGFA takes over in numbers .

I have been telling this for a year now.Looks like parrikar has got brains like me too:coffee:.
MMRCA is not worth it vs the early pakfa variant.

1)We will share 50% finances in pakfa and have the rights of that plane too as a result.
2)Roughly same cost as rafale but we will have 13-25% share in installing our subsystems.
3)Stealth>>>>rafale
4)Radar>>>rafale(3 aesa antennas +2 l band aesas for IFF etc)
5)Commonality with fgfa to be developed later on
6)0 risk of sanctions.
7)A grateful russia.

Super 30 upgrade package

NO.

Better get phase 1 pakfa over su-30.

Tejas MK-II 2020 onwards

Not possible looking at HAL'S current issues.

.
Scrap rafale get more sqdrn of pak fa and upgrade it on later stages to fgfa. for immediate planes get 100 mk1 till mk2 comes to production

. .
parikker is noslouch he knows what he is doing and how he should do it he is an IITian

now rafale is way too costli and frenchies of late are way too much greedi its time we call of the frace and get FGFA asap for IAF and for supporting cast a couple of squads of MKIsed Su-35

Its American, comes with strings and limited growth potential.

what strings :o:
limited growth?? Advance Super Hornet has tons of growth as of now and the future.
AESA Radar
same engine as Tejas MKII
advance weapons that are always getting better.

it's not as good as the Rafale, but it's a hell a lot of cheaper and a lot to be gained from TOT and get your foot in the door with Americann weapons.

small diameter bomb is better than AASM. cheaper and can hit more targets in one sortie

It is evident that India is using pressurizing tricks. Such articles prove this.

It is older platform compared to Rafale. Remember SH itself is evolution of Hornet.

nah super hornet is larger airframe than the hornet and advance hornet adds CFT and enclosed weapons pod for more stealth.

it's still a good platform.

The F18 has already been "banned" from the MMRCA,if the deal doesn't go ahead, they will probably buy the Typhoon,or Tejas,or more Su30,or more PafKa.

C'mon. 8-)

banned :(
got to wonder if the deal does fall through and you are only left with the Typhoon if that deal would stall as well.

I don't think IAF wants more Su-30 though and Tejas isn't as advance than the competition.

you know when you are dealing with America everything get's fast tracked.

i think we are desperate as well since the F-18 line is closing so if we can produce a dozen more we would jump on that o_O

Hi
If we get full TOT of Engine with full TOT of AESA used by US navy Then certainly yes.And also add that it will be made in India with no strings attached, and permissions to India that it can use it's technology in PMF (Indian T 50).
Cheers
Thanks
