Palestine cancels 1995 Oslo Accords signed with Israel

RAMALLAH, Palestine

Palestine on Thursday canceled the 1995 Oslo Accords signed with Israel.

“Israel has been informed that the Palestinian administration will not adhere to the agreements between them,” the Palestinian Authority’s Minister of Civil Affairs Hussein al-Sheikh said in a televised interview with Al-Jazeera.

Sheikh also expressed hope that Arab and Islamic countries will be a force that supports the Palestinian attitude.

At the request of Palestine, the Arab League will hold an extraordinary meeting at the ministerial level on Feb. 1 to discuss the so-called peace plan.

On Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump released his much-hyped plan to end the Israeli-Palestinian dispute during a press conference at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by his side.

There was, however, no Palestinian representative at the announcement, which saw Trump referring to Jerusalem as "Israel's undivided capital".

Trump’s so-called peace plan unilaterally annuls previous UN resolutions on the Palestinian issue and has drawn criticism for giving Israel almost everything it demanded.

Under the 1995 Oslo Accords between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, was divided into three portions – Area A, B and C.

Israel prevents Palestinians from conducting construction projects in parts of the West Bank designated as Area C under the agreement, which falls under administrative and security control of Israel.

Area C is currently home to 300,000 Palestinians, the vast majority of whom are Bedouins and herding communities who predominantly live in tents, caravans and caves.

International law views the West Bank and East Jerusalem as "occupied territories" and considers all Jewish settlement-building activity there illegal.

What does that mean ,next time there is an offer for settlement ,the Palestinians will be offered even less land

. .
It appears that the Palestinian leadership is prepared to obligate its people to refugee status for at least another generation, perhaps two. After two more generations the 1967 war will be 100 years past, a century. There is no prospect for a military victory over Israel for at least one more generation. Demographics is on the side of the Palestinians as long as they can tolerate increasing their numbers but always only in the life style of a refugee. So how large a refuge population can the Palestinians tolerate? who will financially support them? for how long? To me the wiser course would be to capitulate to the Israelis now and then concentrate on strengthening their community financially and technologically, while hoping that demographics will allow them to achieve political power within a couple of more generations.

You can’t beat israel that’s a known thing
Jordan is already palestinian majority country so they can or should i say must tolerate palestinians
I think this palestinian cause is officially over since egypt and gcc arab states are on board with the “peace” plan best thing palestinians should do is to move on but pride and nationalism won’t allow this logical decision
Very sad end for palestine but they should curse their fellow arabs when they decided to side with britain in WW1 against turks
What goes around comes around is the quote for arabs and their actions 100 years ago

The Palestinian cause seems to be lost forever. Trump is hellbent on ensuring a "solution" during his term of office. That was one of his election promises. It's a do or die position for the Palestinians.

Palestinians could be given citizenship in Europe... or North/South America...
without The Heartland... we shall become even More Nothing than we are now.

Palestinians are Jordanians! They could and should be integrated into the Jordanian nation and society. As to "The Heartland", Israel and Jerusalem have never been the "heartland" of Islam. That is in Saudi Arabia.

the people saying tht palestine is a lost cause or that, the israel has won, should pay attention to US's declining power and europe as a whole. Israel exists mainy due to foreign western intervention and thats about it, east including china doesnt back israel, neither far right emerging neo azi type govt in europe.

so it wont be long when israel will face existential crises, already read that jews are fleeing israel due to insecurity and desert land insuitable for habitation.

one of the biggest israeli ally in the region was turkey and not only turkey has come out of western euphoria, the relations are growing tense ever since, the USA is not happy with turkish govt, neither is euope.

seems more like west's last ditch effort is saving israel and make jewish lobby happy.

arab govt is mainly silent due to saudi arabia and jew backed lobby currently in KSA

regards

No such thing! Israel has always been evangelical pet project, a sacrificial lamb... for their end of world prophesies... tribulations, rapture and rule of the one true Messiah.
For most other Europeans, Russians... Jews are all on their collective conscience... for over a millennia they persecuted Jews.
Muslims are paying the price of weakness and taking favors from west to erect weak, greedy and corrupt monarchies.
Palestinian Authority continues still as a platform for secular Arab nationalism and not a Muslim cause.
One thing you are correct in noting is with west losing it's power and projection, it will not be able to intervene on behalf of Israel, forever.
Especially, as public opinion changes.
But to Israel's liking, Arabs are on their knees and weakest now then at any given time...
Which means Israel may not always seek western help but these stooge monarchies start serving that purpose.

it is true, the most vocal anti israel pro palestinian muslim govts have always been non arab, the turks iran, Pakistan, malaysia etc, the arabs have always served as western stooge since modern era and yet the palestinian women commenting of trump initiative talked on arabs being silent and not other muslim nations, recently indonesia even stopped israeli tourists from visiting their country. This is a prime reason why non arabic countries are slowly abandoning, lowering their voices for palestinian cause.

Make sure to differentiate vocal, with action

Erdogan/Turkey has done nothing against Israel but give speeches. Arab states have fought wars against Israel, launched missiles, killed etc.

Iran has done what against Israel? Nothing directly. Iran instead bought arms from Israel in the 1980's under the contra-affair, to fight Iraq.. which launched missiles on Israel.

There are 22 Arab states, the GCC does not represent all 22 Arab states. Iran and Turkey have done nothing against Israel.

And what have done arab states every war with israel made the situation far worse for palestinians
You are right gcc doesn’t represent all arab states but thanks to their wealth they can influence/force/blackmail other arab states(egypt) to issue shameful statements
There are proud arab states with dignity like iraq algeria somalia tunisia but they don’t have the power to do something that matters for palestine as their “brothers” from gcc
Maybe iran or turkey or pakistan haven’t waged war against israel and would never do it until the end of the earth (as far as turks and turkey are concerned) but atleast have balls to say that this deal is a capitulation for palestinians

The Palestinian cause seems to be lost forever.

lets be honest throwing stones and doing pr stuff wont help them!

they are not gonna to leave or lets say to lessen their status quo.. if they dont want to loose it they wont gain anything... in my eyes even pkk rats have more guts..

Turkey has done nothing against Israel

one serious question! why should we have done something against israel? they did not take anything away from us (prior to recent histroy) you think turks have had to fight wars for the ones who stole their house? that sounds just ridiculous :)

.
It's a good decision

The Palestinians have numbers and nothing else

But numbers in of themselves are a tool to strike back

Across Gaza, Israel and the west bank the Palestinians form a majority and birth rate are on their side

The Jews and the U.S already want to bury them so accepting any plan that justifies the occupation just for a moderately better quality of life as a prisoner is pointless

The Palestinians for the Arabs sins best plan is to keep increasing the pressure and start pushing back against Israel

The Israelis will of course oppress the Palestinians but Oslo and the subsequent agreements made occupation easy for the Jews

The Palestinians need to make the occupation hard again
And the answer for this is in the west bank not Gaza
Because the agreement between the Palestinians and Israel has made it easy for the worthless Arab regimes too

So whether it be Oslo or any of the security arrangements with Israel there needs to be a end and a hostile push back

And a focus on increasing that population

Not really, not even close
