The one who heads GHQ has clearly stated ............. we know the enemy and we are aware of their traps and conspiracies. It's the other way around because I feel like this side of the border has decided not to put up with this brotherhood sh*t anymore .................... one here may be answered with four there.

Yeah ... that statement was crisp ... I noticed that too ...

The question is what are the chess moves that are going to unfold now.

Hmmm you may be right about the trap. India has followed a strategy of trying to answer Kashmir violence with Baluchistan. India could be using it's influence to have ghani say this. No doubt the govt and army need to be extra careful and be very vigilant.

All I can say is that in my limited understanding and of what little I know Ghani, Atmar, Stenakzai -- they are not Stupid. Tactically they are very clever -- what are they thinking?

Plus Doval is a master tactician ... I don't think he has any comparable peer on the Pakistani side.

All of the moves in light of the analysis coming out of Afghanistan makes absolutely no sense to me.

There is the hate-pakistan component to unify the Afghan public -- but there is diminishing utility after a point in that.

The GHQ boys do understand the power levers at their disposal ... so what is Ghani thinking?

Very very interesting ...

Ghani is the new featured host of "Pimp my Country".....

Yep it seems he is not only trying to unify Afghanistan but also please India. The one billion was much less as compared to what was thought was about to be given. He needs to do this so that not only his power stays ( his nation stays united against a common enemy) but also India remains happy.

I think there is frustration involved. When we closed Chapman, there was a lot of hubbub and talks in Afghanistan however when they close central Asia route they were expected something of the same level but it never came. We were jot even effected but also not bothered. The card ghani played failed completely and this must have added to a massive frustration block considering how emotional leaders of Afghanistan.

So the situation in Afghanistan is that 1/3rd is under Taliban control. Apart from the provincial capital the ANA struggles to hold ground and only in capital do they hold ground bcz of the US air strikes. The US doesn't interfere elsewhere and the ANA themselves arm the Taliban by retreats, gifts and selling the equipment. Kpk and Baluchistan are far better and have a far better future than Afghanistan.

The army is only on fata whilst kpk and Baluchistan is run by their provincial police and Baluchistan for security has FC which is raised by kpk and Baluchistan.

It is becoming all the note imperative that we seal the borders and kick out the refugees. They are a massive security risk and they can't be trusted.

These are the acts of a desperate man. No doubt about it.

President Ghani is assuming all the risk as he is likely to face the blowback from these statements. Unfortunately, he has no other moves left to play. If he continues on the current path, Afghanistan faces dire choices. We all know there is no military solution in Afghanistan. If US Army, the best war machine in the world, could not deliver peace in Afghanistan. ANA sure as hell cannot, no disrespect intended.

Indian designs are obvious. In short, India wants to bog down Pakistan Armed Forces and make us spend more on internal security. I, personally, think PM Nawaz Sharif misread the situation earlier on. He is starting to correct course. Solving these challenges would require close coordination with Pakistan Armed Forces and I don't think he can ever fully commit to such a thing.

Alright tell us your analysis. You know how these Afghan officials work and you have followed ghani as well as those that hold true power.

How would you analyze this statement. He is antagonizing pakistan and kpk and Baluchistan. How would this profit Afghanistan especially when pakistan is already skeptical of the refugees due to the actions of the state.

Could pleasing India really be worth making your next door neighbour with whom you share such a large and porous border, your enemy?

The interesting part is that he didn't say he supported independence bcz supporting separatism in pakistan would mean giving up areas that the baluch nation on his side has and also antagonizing another neighbour called Iran who gas sistan which these terrorist separatists claim. He clearly stated that he doesn't interfere in the affairs of other nation after making an interfering statement.

This would see the afpak relations reaching lows. Maybe the noneffect of the central Asia threat and closure has frustrated him more.

How would you analyze this statement?

Possibly a way of saying 'thank you' to India for their aid, and also a combination of appealing to uneducated afghan voters in Kabul (his biggest voting base), and an attempt to unify the country (Taliban holds a lot of territory).

Afghan officials usually come out with silly statements like these but it is interesting how Ghani is not specifically advocating independence but trying to draw international attention to the regions, maybe an attempt to divert attention from recent UNHRC request to visit Kashmir?

It also could be that Central Asia threat has had no effect whatsoever and this may also be an attempt from him to save face.

If 207000 soldiers are present in KPK and Balochistan then there are faaar more present in Punjab and Sindh ; does this mean there is an even larger war occuring in these two provinces? KPK and Balochistan are part of Pakistan and the Pakistan army can be stationed anywhere in Pakistan!

So, Mahmood Achakzai should be killed because he has sympathies for Afghans ? When being sympathetic to people of same ethnicity became a crime. It is natural human behavior. Government cannot dictate terms to people of KPK.

Around the same time saying anything against PM Modi is considered sedition and grounds for closing down NGOs, throwing ink at individuals attempting to promote peace. Any of these incidences ring a bell?

Its our country and we will decide who can live here and who can't you stay out of this and if you love them so much and you've a big heart than ask your gov to take them in.
the more Afghan govt cozies up to India the more difficult their situation will get is in heir intetest to chose their friends and enemies wisely

we must break and eliminate all leftist forces in the country to improve the internal security..MQM and communist/marxist parties of KP and Baluchistan are a good start...

Talibs are closing in. Ghani and his family should run.

Another news on geo that brahmdagh is getting indian nationality? Can someone confirm from other sources?

Violence in KPK? What is this joker smoking? And yes there are troops stationed in KPK, just as there are troops elsewhere in the country. And there are many good reasons to keep them stationed there, given the country it shares a border with.

So they are trying to make controversial the settled issues in 1947 once again by their pathetic statements...If they really think these are the rules of engagement than let this fire spread in their own backyard....situation is so pathetic in Afghanistan that these buffoons cannot take a drive in the outskirts of Kabul, due to the heavy presence of insurgents....yet they claim such astonishingly stupid things....Afghanistan will remain a foreign occupied country for a long time....and these clowns will remain serve as puppets to make their people comfortable....!!!
