It is Halal now because PTI is covering that deficit by increasing remittances and deposits to RDA. Under N League the deficit was in CAD and not just trade deficit - that is the deficit was even after including remittances- total imports were 60bln plus and exports were 20 bln and remittances also stayed around 20 bln. Where as now both exports and remittances have grown:

Ok let me explain it again - Current account deficit is what matters. Pmln left a big CAD ,which is the deficit after remittances and exports; that was -20bln dollars. The trade deficit was even worse, close to 40bln. PTI has achieved a massive increase in remittances -28 bln dollars, which covers the 31 bln trade deficit, so CAD now will be 2-3 bln dollars only (last year there was a surplus of few hundred millions actually ).

If I understand properly, what he is saying is that under PTI the trade deficit, which is the difference between exports and imports, is $30 billion. However, the current account deficit, which is a separate figure and includes remittances as well, is still likely to be 3-4 billion dollars.

So under PTI the current account deficit (CAD) has shrunk significantly compared to the pmln tenure. I don't know if true but he said the CAD deficit was 20 billion dollars in PMLn tenure. So the difference in the figures being debated is different.

The trade deficit is more than $6b less than in 2018.

Current account deficit will be $19b less than in 2018.

Our imports are less than in 2018. Our exports are more than in 2018.

Not only that our services deficit is also on a decline, mainly due to our IT exports crossing $2b comfortably this year.
