In times of war, the line between a legit military operation and terrorism is blurred. Hiroshima/Nagasaki, the WW2 Blitz on the UK, the Bosnian war, etc. were all waged by formal military forces and were designed to inflict heavy civilian casualties. Although I will grant you that given their proximity, India/Pakistan are highly unlikely to attack each other's nuclear installation, as it would be suicidal (mutually assured destruction).

I don't think any country with dignity will try to bomb the nuclear reactor . That's why India is against any military action against Iran on nuke site as well. Because when the motive v changes it will invite the world to go against you . Unless you r not in world war . Don't forget enemy will do the same as these sites are like a sitting ducks our little tejas can do surgical bombing missions so does Chinese flankers . But really doubt JF17 or old mirage or J7 can do it . So mostly it won't happen between India and Pakistan all losing side swill try to survive to for another day

Pervez Hoodbhoy is a respected scientist, even though he likes to dabble in areas out of his expertise.

Personally I am all for nuclear power but I have to ask this question: Why not build these new reactors away from Karachi? I means what's stopping us from building them say ANYWHERE on the 1,000 KM long barren coastline?

People quoting the safety and clean record of KANNUP, you should know that when KANUP was built in 70's, there was no population in that area other than few small fishing villages. But now that area is packed with people.
Any Karachiite here will attest to this fact.

Guys remember, no matter how safe we believe this design is (Chinese ..), how competent our engineers are (which they really are), or how negligible the risk of a natural disaster is (39 feet high rock), but even if there is a 0.000001% chance of human tragedy, why take this risk?

Just shift them to a safe location.

My guess is that some bozo in NS government thought that choosing a new location will take time so lets build it here.
