The Pakistan Army and its affiliates have violated the ceasefire established in November 2003 57 times in 2013, which is almost 50 per cent more than the violations that took place in the previous year, sources said.

According to sources, effective counter-infiltration measures along the border separating India and Pakistan resulted in 17 bids being foiled.

The sources further stated that between July 1 and August 6 this year, 19 terrorists have been killed.

Intelligence reports point to terrorists concentrating in areas opposite the Macchal, Tangdhar, Keran and Kupwara areas.

The situation along the 778-kilometer-long Line of Control (LoC) took a turn for the worse in January this year, when the two armies engaged in heavy firing on a daily basis, after Pakistani Army regulars and some militants crossed over into the Mendhar sector in Jammu and Kashmir and beheaded an Indian soldier and mutilated the body of another on January 8.

The Indian Army is of the view that the terrorism infrastructure in Pakistan continues to be intact. It claims that over 2,500 militants are located in 43 terror-training camps, and about 450 terrorists are ready to cross into India with the help of Pakistani Army.

@sandy_3126 would you not just want peace? It is not going to be an easy path but surely one has to keep on at this effort come what may (to an extent)? If India stops the talks they ARE playing into the hands of those who want continued hostility between the neighbors. If India can make enough progress one day the Pakistani people will turn against these very people.


Sadly the path to this goal is going to be fraught with danger and,sadly, will more than likely see much bloodshed.


I just don't think complete isolation of Pakistan is either viable or suitable.

Peace is awesome, but what we are doing right now is not for peace, it cowardice and its compromise, the soldier who signed up, did so knowing that the might of the people of India is behind him. By compromising and strategics equation analysis that make us take the easy way out, we are nothing but abandoning that soldier.

If compromise was the way out, why the hell are we doing all these, give kashmir to pakistan, declare maoist rule in the territory they control, give arunachal to china, then there is no conflict, and thus peace will prevail, right?

I dont know why this guy pointed his finger at us,he seems to suggest that was a joint militray action taken by China and Pakistan against India.

Pakistan and China can’t be trusted: Mulayam

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday demanded that the government should clarify in Parliament the steps it is taking to stop repeated intrusions across the border by China and killings of Indian soldiers by Pakistan.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha during a discussion on the killing of five Indian soldiers by Pakistani troops in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, Mulayam Singh Yadav said both Pakistan and China were "not to be trusted".

Yadav said there were frequent incidents of intrusions by China across the Line of Actual Control and ceasefire violations by Pakistan on the Line of Control as well as killings of Indian soldiers. "We want to know what the government is doing to thwart such attacks," he said.

"Pakistan and China may have some secret understanding... Why is China intruding repeatedly on our border. Both China and Pakistan have come near our borders. The whole House is concerned for the country's security and unity," he said.

But you've got to look at the bigger picture don't you think? Maybe just maybe these peace talks will come to fruition and save untold lives in the future. Is this not something worth taking short-term pain for?
