Pakistan's IT exports may grow to $10b by 2020

Dude . The figure is about IT exports not the size of IT industry

Sorry!

Correction : In 2008 the following figure from the same web site - should pertain to 2006-2007 - was reported :

Estimated Total IT Industry Export Revenue : US$ 1.4 Billion.

As such the present Total IT Industry Export Revenue for 2010-2011 could be well over US$ 5 Billion.

By 2020it should cross US$ 20 Billion.

Why speculate? Are there no hard figures?

What about the article on the first page that says the exports are just 250 odd million dollars?

. .
Figures from the Site : IT Industry overview | Economic Pakistan

State Bank Reporting Earnings : US$ 116 Million

Estimated Total IT Industry Export Revenue : US$ 1.4 Billion

So, take your pick.

OK, the difference between the two figures is just too much. Can one assume that less than 10% work is being done offshore by the Pakistani companies? Is that supposed to explain the gap?

The onsite component for Indian companies is much smaller and they are always trying to reduce it as the margins are better in taking the work offshore.
