Pakistan's HIT offers to upgrade Bangladeshi MBT fleet

This is great, the two countries should increase defence cooperation

bharat ke prakoop se ek hi bas BD/pak ko bacha sakta hai .. woh hai sirf bharat !

btw, while al-khalid's capabilities are highly doubtful, but BD as such has no need of big armor. Half of their land are swampy !

Yeah, Al Khalid's capabilities are higly doubtful..because you simply can't digest its successful serial production after so many years, whereas your own army specified so many deficiencies in your Arjun Tank, including faulty fire control system, inaccuracy of its guns, and the lack of ability to work properly in over 50 degree Celisse. Your Arjun Tank project failed despite this program was initiated in 1974 but due to its outclass and unmatched qualities your military ended up with T-90 tanks...!! How wonderful..!

all of those have been fixed ages before.where were you sleeping for all those years,MR Rip Van Winkle???world has come much ahead and Arjun 2 is already in production.

we bought so many T-90s as T-90 and T-72 are perfect for our "Offensive Doctrine".they're capable yet light, thus making it perfect for offensive.its our "Pivot Corps" which will use Arjun.so stop your whining and post on topic.

Don't call me name you idiot..!! Your supa dupa Arjun tank is still not more than 250 in quantity after 40 years of research and wasted money...!! Whereas over 1000 T-90s in your arsenal reflects clearly your dependency and confidence on imported stuff and....Ohh yeah....for.. your "Offensive Doctrine"..!! Suits perfectly for your psyche...! Same like LCA..!

thanks for the info :D it is actually the MBT tanks, not kits. BD has plan to buy 300 Type59G tanks from china and according to your info 155 units are already delivered to BD :bunny:

meanwhile pakistan offered upgrades program for bangladesh's aging type59 tanks (around 250) :yahoo:

Totally wrong.

According to a previous thread,

A total of 300 examples of Type59G will be rebuild from the existing fleet.

According to bdmilitary.com,

The Type 59G was first seen in public during November, 2010 when one example was being driven away by a tank transporter from Dhaka. Subsequently on the 24th of November, 2010 various private television channels of Bangladesh aired footage of the Chief of Army Staff inspecting some Type 59G Main Battle Tanks during an official visit to Bogra cantonment.

It is expected that some 300 Type 59 tanks will be rebuilt at the premises of the 902 Heavy Workshop, where Type 69 tanks were also upgraded earlier.

Note that SIPRI reports that 155 out of 300 Type 59 & Type 69 tanks were upgraded to Type 59 / 69-IIG standard between 2010 and 2013.

* According to unverified figures, BD had 60 Type-59, 54 Type 59II and 185 Type 69-II tanks (60+54+185 = 299 or close to 300). That leaves BD with some 122 T-54/55 tanks and possibly some 65 Type 69-IIs. I think these are the ones being negotiated with HIT ... *

* Unverified figures refer to Wikipedia...

SIPRI info is not very much reliable. The deal might had not happened

What is 'very much' reliable then? You?

Two images of Type-59G are above

@Aeronaut This page needs cleanup

My info is correct. Even if you check those pictures, those are newly bought, not modified version.

Bangladesh has 2 plans about Type59tank.

1. upgrade existing tanks.
2. buy 300 more tanks of Type59G

Why Type Type 59 G I mean is Type 59 G 3rd Generation Tank?

Why Type Type 59 G I mean is Type 59 G 3rd Generation Tank?
Type59G is the latest version of Type59 tank series, improved version than Al-Zarrar.
That is why BD is going of Type59G tank.
