What's new

Pakistan's first indigenous armed drone "BURAQ" kills 3 militants in Shawal: ISPR

Buraq is not a cruise missile. its a bird that kills taliban
dont look inside.. its only full of rage against the wahabi funded terrorists.

why you want to look inside when you have already declared its 100% the same?
which means you are telling us that we are so bad that it took us decades to assemple or fly a Chinese drone? now that really hurts ;(

o_O

It started out as a private venture (not privy to it's roots), but at the moment, it is very much a part of NESCOM.

But still not a front face of NESCOM in its sense as it has been told earlier in a post its altogether a different entity no matter they work so closely that sometimes its difficult to understand but again it's not part of NESCOM.

I wonder why someone not classify the GIDS Shahpar UAV a Chinese copy of some drone ? I wonder from where did we get Shahpar then.

:undecided:

We should also use them in Balochistan.
We are on right path in Balochistan, looking at present situation when people have started surrendering and some of their leaders offering to drop some unacceptable demands, hopefully we won't need it. However, for their best utility, we need more number of surveillance drones to observe mountainous boarder and need to define crossing points considering requirements of security forces and people living around. Any human or animals found crossing boarder other then these points should be targeted with these drones.

Your story;s basis falls apart at GIDS. It is not a front for NESCOM even if they work closely at times. GIDS is a private venture of a gentleman who has done well(even if at times his designs refuse to fly).

There was "competition" so to say on the initial missile program(but now KRL is no longer an independent entity as such).. but lesser on the UAV systems. Just a combination of Enterprising former officers and other individuals who started the program to cater to a growing UAV requirement since the early 90's.

GIDS vs DRDO who'd win?

Wait a minute..
The first test was in March 2015.
Why the first kill in September ?
Why was it not bring used straight away
!
It takes some time between final acceptance test by the users and delivery to user units and bringing them to operationally ready state.

'Indigenous' drone?

It's the CASC Rainbow (Cai Hong, abbreviated as CH-3). :P Here...

Chinese CH-3.....

Even the shape of the winglets haven't been changed! :cheesy:

The title of this thread needs to be amended.

If you ever get the opportunity, ask them about doing a collaboration or getting sponsorship for a project or something, and they'll say they will talk with Air Commodore XYZ and tell you later.

It does look like the chinese drone, could be a Brahmos you know (change the paint around and call it indigenous) however if its entirely being built here (And i think that is the case), i dont care since it gives a cheap and effective way of patrolling the border and taking out dirt bags. No need to waste expensive fighter jets to target them when these birds can do the job quietly.

Gives a tremendous lift to our drone program. im sure the next one would be a step up in terms of payload, sensors and range.

I want to see a fleet of 40-50 of these totally covering the borders even hitting terrorists at night, striking terror in the terrorist.

Working closely at times means that you have to have everything you do approved by a sitting star officer at NESCOM?

Or have some other stuff approved by an Air Commodore?

It started out as a private venture (not privy to it's roots), but at the moment, it is very much a part of NESCOM.
Yes and No. There is pull within NESCOM to dictate what GIDS does but not everything. Essentially, NESCOM is the primary customer.
