Pakistan’s Costly Plunge into China Debt

Good. We need Pakistan now to be taken over by China and administered as a "special administration region" like Hong Kong. Secularism imposed, free markets employed and turn Pakistan into another Shenzhan or Hong Long in 50 years. Great !!!!

If the CCP's recipe worked in China. Ditto Pakistan.
Wow great thinking. Why chinese ? Wasnt Hong kong created by the british. Just declare the Independence as null & void and bring back the british. If you pay the taxes they wont bother you.

It does not matter. The ship has sailed and in fact, the bloated ship is more debt-ridden than before. This started with 45 billion dollar borrowing and now is almost up to $62 or more billion.

China is a predatory lender, and in the west, we call such lending practices and terms as loan sharking. The only difference is when you can't pay up because of their terms, you don't get beaten up_ you simply give up parts of your countries sovereignty; just like what happened in Sri Lanka and parts of Africa.

Oddly, Pakistanis think they will make it all up by charging tolls to China for moving their goods. I still can't figure out this new stance and the math behind it. You think China has not worked a deal on transit fees?

Shockingly, Pakistani's here were praising the Chinese for offering 500k jobs to Chinese and not Pakistanis at Gawadar.

@PatriotLover His suggestion comes with a caveat. He will be watching all this takeover from Britain ;)
wow $45 bn loan :cuckoo:
35 bn chinese investment and 11 bn loan with interest rate of 2%

500k chinese professionals not workers and that is a over exaggerated amount and not been confirmed by china or pakistan and that value doesn't mean that 500k chinese will come it suggested that the housing scheme can hold 500k people
600k-700k chinese are living in newyork 400k-500k living in dubai
there are 2 laws
1) foreign professional cannot cross 25% from total amount of professional on a single project
2)any foreign company wants to start its bussiness in pakistan have align with pakistan company and share would be distributed 70% foreign and 30% pakistani company
shattering any false hope you people got

That will be shameful for a hater. Advocating shortcuts to prosperity can only be seen in Pakistan. In case you didn’t notice hard work, struggle, austerity is not the style here.

when you win Independence the hard way, these type of things wont happen. when you get things for free, you dont care what happens to it.

You think your politicians are speaking the truth while all these articles from nonbias sources and economists are coming out telling you how bad this deal is are lying? Okiee dokee. You think similar stories of Chinese ruining Sri Lanka and other countries are made up? Okiee dokee. You think comparing your country to ours, where we can absorb more people to the workforce, while you are suffering from low wages, low skilled jobs, and high unemployment is the same. Okiee dokee.

CPEC investment pushed from $55b to $62b - your own media source

I really suspect @Kaptaan and @PAKISTANFOREVER have recieved enormous amount of kickbacks from Chinese for promoting CPEC while they themselves will remain ensconced in the safety of Britain.
We are true blood Pakistani's and are inspired by our icons.

* Mohammed Ali Jinnah - Spent good chunk of his life in London. More Savile Row then Sindhi.
* Altaf Hussain - is comfortably ensconced in London and runs Karachi via Lebara Mobile.
* Bilawal Bhutto - lives in London but holidays in Larkhana.
* Nawza Sharif - has homes in London but has vacations to PM House in Islamabad.
