UNITED NATIONS, Dec. 31 (APP): Pakistans UN ambassador today transmitted to all his counterparts in New York the statements made by the Pakistani leadership condemning the Israeli strikes in the Gaza Strip that have left more than 300 Palestinians dead.
In a letter to permanent representatives and observers accredited to the UN, Ambassador Abdullah Hussain Haroon said that President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi have called for an end to the violence and voiced concern over the heavy loss of lives in the territory.
He said the Pakistani leaders have urged the international community to promote a peaceful and just settlement the Palestinian issue, pointing out that Pakistan has consistently supported that approach.
