What's new

Pakistan's ASFC conducts training launch of Shaheen-II MRBM Nov 13, 2014

No, this one was separately scheduled as evident from Navarea securites. The other one is not cancelled, "maybe" postponed.

Deterrent, what is the latest on this "other" missile? When can we expect to see this new(?) missile being test fired?

Any inside sources? Anything?

Since the naval securites about that test were issued, it can be assumed that the missile was almost ready to be tested, but has been delayed. So whatever the issue was that caused the delay, it shouldn't be a big one, and we can expect the test within this month.

You know what I feel?

A test would happen and ISPR would go like "ummmm..so yeah Pakistanis..Shaheen-II actually had 1500km range all through..but don't worry, this new missile..Shaheen-IIA/III has 2000km+ range...hehhe..ok ok, don't get mad at us. We lied to you all the way but whatevs..now we actually have a 2000km+ range missile. So take a chill pill...and remember, Pakistan Army zindabad and never to question us!"

So disappointed at our state of affairs. Specially after reading THIS post of @Oscar

If people were really opened up to the realities and rather dismal state of corruption and nepotism in R&D in Pakistan.. they would really start migrating in droves or looking seriously at breaking this country up so at least some areas can better manage themselves.

The organization that launches these systems is full of the redundant sloths from the military officer pool whose only interest is getting the daily activities of stamps and signatures done without any actual research. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of "projects" on files where progress is recorded by opening the file after filling out two forms cross checked and stamped.. then the file is read, sent for proof reading and signed, stamped and dated and is put back in the system... that would then signify the completion of that day's work on the MIRV system for a missile. With that the colonel/major or Brig is satisfied that he has done his halal earning and duty for the country...and is rightfully entitled to his tea and samosa along with the toothpick sandwich(toothpick not to be discarded but used.... as a toothpick later to avoid wastage).

Then there are even greater achievers who will order a $2 million dollar piece of equipment through the connivance of a half baked PhD fellow(with a PhD from some unknown Chinese university about which even the Chinese go 凡到底是什么?)
That order is placed via his uncles son who is qualified through the system without much ado.. and the firm is then paid some $900000 for the cost of this utterly redundant and useless piece of machinery which will spend the rest of its life gathering dust and cobwebs at some storeroom while the sir pockets $300000, his superiors/juniors/colluders the $300000 and the rest going to feed the other scavengers in the government machinery.

Lets go to where work is actually done in some cases. Here we have some young fellows who try to get some things going but are reminded about the various stamps and signatures needed to move a pen from the desk to the drawer. Even if they persist past that they are told that in case they get the chance to work.. even if they are not able to meet the requirements they are supposed to state that they did (unless the project has to be really killed on the orders of the highest folk).

What little you do see happening is only living off the impetus of people like Dr S, Dr. B.. and a few others who can be counted on a 100 grain "tasbeeh". The rest of the R&D system is essentially a nice retirement village for those officers who were found to be unfit to proceed further but the Army would like to be polite to them and let them leave with "dignity".

Not much difference in the intelligence organizations either.

That is precisely the case.
From another angle, do notice that recently ranges have been described accurately i.e. Shaheen-IA 900 km (didn't round it to 1000), Shaheen-II 1500 km (just as described in the securites). So we might see exact range of Shaheen-III whenever it is tested.

Well sadly thats what happens at government/army-backed organizations. However, situation is improving.

. .
I wonder what @Oscar says about the bold part?

The situation cannot improve unless the Army is pulled out of its strict management control over these organizations. Their job should be security.. not managing engineers and scientists where the little contribution they have is slowing down or grounding projects with their needless bureaucracy.

Congratz ............ to the Nation.
But maza nahi a raha Missile testing main.
Missile 100% HIT THE Target what does it mean by ISPR,it is obvious every missile hits the target ??????????

. . .
What none of you روندُو عوام realized that it was the "First ever" training launch of a shaheen-2 missile. That means the manufacturing and deployment of this missile is completed and Pakistan has a few to spare for target practice. This in itself is a very significant milestone.

No it wasn't, the first training launch was conducted in 2008.
