Pakistanis kill man accused of insulting Quran

There is no rule in the Islamic law requiring that an individual should be killed "for throwing pages of the scripture on the road". Besides that, the people can not take the law in to their own hands, only the courts of law may convict & punish an individual for his or her crimes. The mob should be arrested & charged with "civil unrest" & vandalism of public property. Those involved in the murder of the alleged should be given the death penalty.

That ought to teach these dumb extremists a lesson.

i think the problem here is that ... if majority of pakistani approve of this fact ... rest will have to follow or get the same treatment ...

If the man had insulted the quran then he should be punished by law, sad the people had to take the law in their hands, I hope the people of Pakistan take the law in dealing with their politicians and terroris in the same way.

i truly thank Mr. Jinnah for creating pakistan ... and I despise gandhi for letting muslims stay in India ... specially the ones who are creating trouble in India... i hope a law should be passed in India... any muslim who found out to be involved in anti India activities (both ideology and activity) should be thrown into pakistan ....

ISLAMABAD — A Pakistani police official says thousands of people beat a man to death, then burned his corpse after he was accused of desecrating Islam’s holy book.

Local officer Mohammed Azhar Gujar said Wednesday the man was killed after attackers stormed a police station where he had been detained for allegedly throwing pages from the Quran onto the street.
Gujar says police officers tried to protect the man during Tuesday’s attack, but the mob turned violent.

If this is true then it is very sad to hear that.

I suggest to hang all the thousands of people to ensure nobody will repeat this again. Take action similar to Sialkot lynching where all the people were imprisoned or expected to be hanged for death

How incredibly convoluted a logic is required for people to murder a man in cold blood to protect the honor of Islam. Such stories seem to come out of Pakistan every few months; no longer can one shove them under the rug as an exception to the norm. Its the blood of an increasing number of innocent men and women that truly is desecrating the Quran, for these people die for no other reason than the insecurities of people who claim to be Muslim (but dont have the honor to have earned that title).

It is time for us, Pakistanis, to at least attempt to protect the minorities and those who don't follow the path of convergence to a rigid Islam. Whatever this man was thought to have done, he did not deserve to die for it. When a religion becomes so all encompassing that it allows people to break laws of morality, the legal system, and ones of organized society in it's name; something is horribly wrong.The government owes it to Pakistanis as a whole, not just Muslims who pray five times a day, to punish people who take archaic ideals and exercise them on their fellow compatriots.

Would I be offended if someone insulted the Quran? Of course, but if a person is willing to kill for it...then maybe the West is right about us after all.

My memory is fine, & I think you should learn to elucidate your responses & improve your command over the English language. I am well aware of the fact that there is too much extremism in Pakistan. The solution to this issue is to educate the masses regarding the Islamic law. Apart from that, a change in culture is drastically needed, a culture that promotes free speech & thought & is willing to accept new ideas must be brought about to reduce stupid extremism in the country.

If you want a secular country first start treating majority equally. Reservations ? Different Marriage Laws ?
