Including Alexander the great, invaders/rulers from Iran, arabs, central asia (mughals). So there is a wide diversity compared to south india. Plus all these foreigners brought here fairer looking complexion. All of this happened over thousands of years. Not what your family did or what my family did in past 50 years.

Here's what I'm saying :

-Mughals came to area that is pakistan now. And lived, colonized, married amongst the local populations and brought with them a decent population, introducing central asian genes in the region.
-Iranians may also have spread some of their genes here.
-And offcourse arabs have stayed here a long time (Delhi sultunate etc).
-And offcourse if you go further back many thousands of years, alexander the great spent alot of time in afghanistan.

The original Indian people were similar to what you have in south india today. These guys probably filled most of South Asia and still do. Then came foreigners with their fairer skin complexions to Afghanistan, pakistan, north india and now you see fairer skin complexions in these areas....
