What's new

Pakistanis and North West Indians have same Ancestors.

. .
Why is this news? Most Eastern Pakistanis (i.e. Punjabis and Sindhis) have a certain degree of resemblance to North-western Indians. The Pushtuns and the Balouch, hardly. And also the small ethnic groups in North Pakistan are not found anywhere else in the world. We are neighbours, there is bound to be an over lap in ancestry to some degree.

(Curse you American spelling PDF post box, Neighbours is spelt with a U, and not a lonely O.)

. . . .
This is hardly news. There is plenty of scientific data linking genomes across north india and pakistan - unsurprising given that it was a common political entity for many hundred of years and whether we look at the mughals or the mauryas the northern extent of indian (using the term in a historical sense here) kingdoms and empires were very similar.

Even culturally and socially shared attitudes to life, a rough culture, views towards women, disregard for rules, a hopeless inability to stand in queue and tolerance for corruption make it obvious that ethnically the populations of those areas are similar, if not identical.

We share borders so their is bound to be similarities. I am Punjabi and I do like Indian Punjabis, my only friends from India have been Punjabi sikhs. My family surname is Warraich and I have heard we have Punjabi sikh ancestory, I don't know how true that is but I think other ethnicities are not shared between Pakistan and India, I even heard from my friend that India is actually two different countries, North and South and they see eachother as completely different. South Indians are particularly against North Indians. I met 3 sisters from Bengalore in Turkey, they were visiting and they said to me you speak Hindi and I said no I speak Urdu but we can understand eachother fine, and one sister goes to me that they relatives in North and they 'hate' listening to them. Which I thoughts was a very strange comment to make and I have later found out about this divide within India as a country.

I had a similar experience here in Australia, on my first day at univ, i saw 2 groups of Indian students, i introduced myself to the group closest to me and asked them if they were Indians, they replied that they are South Indians (emphasized on South), I replied that last time i checked it was still one country so why did u say south Indian, they told me its complicated and left it at that. Later on i got friendly with the other group that consisted mostly of gujratis and punjabis and they told me to stay away from south indians. i asked them the same question and they also said its complicated. In all my time at univ i never saw those 2 groups even mingle together. They both preferred to speak to me ( a Pakistani guy ) instead of each other.

Pakistanis living on the Indus plains and Indians living in the far west coast seem to come from the same ancestor.

After 15 years of interbreading with Afghans, now you can add Afghanistan to your list.

You don't have sikh ancestry, just that waraich is also one of sikh jatt clans.

Yes I don't know much detail about it but there are shared clans as Warraich, Jatt, Gujjar, Arain are some examples.

Same has been my experience, they are cordial to me and other Pakistanis but they don't mingle with eachother. Language is also an issue between them. But in Britain those who are born here, shouldn't act like this but they actually do not mix at all. Not seen many South Indians here where I live, limited experience.

Pakistanis were the builders of Indus Valley. From Indus river draw arrows going both east and west, depecting expansion of empire, the whole of western India, Iran, Afghanistan, some parts of southern Turkmenistan, you have the map of the world first ancient empire/civilization. The lineage comes FROM Pakistan. The keyword is "from".
