ISLAMABAD: Interior Advisor Rehman Malik Saturday said British government has not provided any evidence regarding arrest of the Pakistanis and that Pakistan has sought details in this connection.

Addressing an emergency press conference here, Rehman Malik said if British government has any concrete evidence against the arrested Pakistanis then Pakistan government will also investigate into this matter.

British police get more time to quiz terror suspects

LONDON: British police were on Saturday granted a further seven days to question 11 men arrested over an alleged Al-Qaeda-driven major terrorist plot, while one was released without charge.

Twelve men, among them 11 Pakistani nationals, 10 in Britain on student visas. and a Briton were arrested in raids across northwest England on Wednesday.

"The North West Counter Terrorism Unit was last night given warrants for the further detention of 11 men arrested," a Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said.

An 18-year-old arrested in connection with the alleged plot has been released without charge in relation to the anti-terror operation. He is now in the custody of the UK Border Agency, which regulates immigration and can investigate the status of those entering Britain.

The men still being held by police are in custody in various locations across Britain. They range in age from 22 to 41, and can be held without charge for up to 28 days.

Britain has been on high security alert ever since the July 2005 attacks on the London transport system, which killed 56 people including four suicide bombers.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Parent of two of the students arrested in Britain have said that their children, studying in foreign countries, are being punished due to their Pakistani nationality.
The arrests have left a question mark on their future life, the somber-looking parent told newsmen at a press conference in press club here on Sunday.

It may be reminded here that 11 Pakistani students were arrested in Britain on April 8 over suspicion of plotting terrorism.

“We spent million of rupees to seek study visas for our children so that they could get higher education in Britain,” parent of the two arrested students, Muhammad Ramzan and Abdul Wahab, said.

They said: “Our children are being punished for non-committed sins because they hail from Pakistan.”
“We called on the government to provide education and security to our children as only a few months are left in completion of their study program,” they further said.
“Our children should not be deported and given the chance to complete the study there.”

If they are indeed innocent and are just students than I couldn't agree more. In fact they'd would be due a very public apology. In the US they'd have the luxury of our broken tort system to sue them for monetary damages.

Either way US/Western European nations still have got a long way to go in weeding out obvious rabidly anti-western types from getting in with these visa's. These people grovel and play nice with their local consular officers but when they reach here and start getting fat and happy off our largesse they have the audacity to insult the country and engage in terror plots.

They ruin it for the genuine folk who actually respect the privilege of entering our countries for their studies, work or tourism. Not to mention these incidents bolster the right wingers who love to rile up anti-immigrant fervor.

You can't discount Islamophobia and you're right the evidence would be out soon. Unfortunately when there is no evidence, these things are chalked up to statements like "Not guilty doesn't mean they are innocent, we just couldn't prove they are guilty".

Seriously, I kid you not. Remember the Brazillian guy who was shot 7 times in the london subway?. Initial reports called him a Pakistani, which is probably why he got shot so many times. Initial reports said he was wearing a heavy court and looked like he would have bombs, he was wearing a sports jacket. Initial reports said he jumped the booths and ran from the authorities, security footage showed he was jumped on by the officers and simply shot.

Your authorities, do suck sometimes. Please keep an open mind. The parents might be right.

with suicide Bombers conviction is a problem so i think in this case british did the right thing shoot first ask questions later.
