Pakistani Speaker Due in Tehran
TEHRAN (FNA)- Pakistan's National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza left Islamabad on Wednesday afternoon to start a 6-day tour of the neighboring Iran.
The visit by the Pakistani speaker will take place at an invitation by her Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani.
During her stay in Tehran, Mirza is slated to meet Larijani, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, vice-president for science and technology and a number of parliament members.
In meetings with Iranian officials, the Pakistani speaker will discuss ways to expand bilateral ties and exchange views over regional and international issues.
Earlier on Sunday, Iranian Ambassador to Islamabad Mashallah Shakeri confirmed the visit and told FNA that Ms. Fehmida Mirza who is also the head of Iran-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship group would discuss expansion of parliamentary ties with her Iranian counterpart.
Mirza is also scheduled to visit the holy city of Mashhad in northeastern Iran which hosts the sanctuary of the Shiites' eighth Imam and will meet the governor-general of Khorassan Razavi province.
