This news has gone viral. It has appeared in hundreds of international newspapers, including Times of India, Hindustan Times, Deccan Herald, Rediff, Sydney Morning Herald, Finnish Newspapers, Pakistani TV channels, across the European and Middle Eastern press... everywhere!

Pakistan Beats India, Creates #1 App For Blackberry

Pakistan has beaten the so-called software superpower India by creating the number app for Blackberry. A photo editing software developed by a technology firm 'Five Rivers' has become the best selling paid-for application for the Blackberry. The firm is based in Lahore, Pakistan.
Photo Editor Suite allows users to crop, rotate, adjust brightness and contrast, recolour and resize photos.Five Rivers opened its subsidiary Pepper.pk a year and a half ago. It says that more than 100 mobile applications for the Blackberry and iPhone as well as other smartphones have been developed in the past one and a half year. The company started in 2003 consists of 50 people and has worked with a number of leading technology firms at home and abroad.
Till recently pepper.pk's photo editor application for Blackberry devices was among the top five selling applications on RIM's App World. Earlier this week, it was Number one. The news is being celebrated in the real and the virtual world in Paksitan. A note on pakteahouse, a popular website in Pakistan quotes that "Pakistan's IT industry has come a long, long way. It’s no easy feat to leave huge names like Facebook and Monopoly, among dozens of others, behind! But what Pepper.pk’s laudable achievement proves is that not only are Pakistan based software companies ultra-competitive, they are, quite literally, second to none.

The application has been in the top five paid applications for quite a while now and on Sunday made its way to the number one spot. According to the State Bank of Pakistan, software and IT-enabled service exports amounted to 204 million dollars in fiscal year 2009-2010 and worth of industry as a whole is around 2.8 billion dollars.

pepper.pk probably got it stolen from some other country. Pakis cannot produce a cd to write data on forget an entire software

Could be. FiveRivers could represent a whole slew of things... I guess one can't know for sure.
