Pakistanis need something more than their army to be proud of.
In a not so successful ( euphemism) nation, too much stock is put in the armed forces for survival of the nation.
As a Indian , a engineer such as Sreedharan makes me proud for giving Delhi a wonderful metro , which makes life of millions everyday better. And extending the same services in 8 more cities.
The chinese are proud of the way they have incorporated german and japanese HS train tech in revamping their railway services.
Americans are proud of being inventive.
Germans are proud of the reliability of their products.

Paks used to be proud of being muslims but now with the state of Islam in the world , they are clinging to their army.

I have nothing against Pakistan - I had quite a few Pakistani friends in Uni. I have some issues with their interpretation of history but that's about it. I don't understand the new obsession with China. China has never helped Pakistan in a crisis. Even in Kargil, China tilted toward India and provided the Musharraf tapes.

If Kashmiris have a state with their own flag, own anthem, compete separately in sports while Defence, Communication and Foreign Affairs is managed through a joint mechanism by India and Pakistan while allowing Kashmiris to move freely anywhere would be an ideal solution which would enable all to save face. It might not be what all want - but it might be something that all can live with.

And Musharraf is an absconder from court. And both contradict each other. Btw, even before that Nawaz was convicted of being a hijacker. You still elected him. Just saying.

China is not an obsession or new anything. China has always proved to be a cordial and reliable friend of Pakistan and for the same reason we trust China as a reliable friend too.

Musharraf was always far more closer to China than the US.
