Pakistani Pakhtuns tired of Afghan immigrants

Pakistan Pukhtoon respect and support their Pukhtoon brothers in Afghanistan. But not when they bring drugs, weapons and crime to their locality!

Double standard, isnt it. You support them in fighting their own brothers, i can hardly call this support, but a hidden agenda. As per weapons, it is not our problem, weapons for the last 30 years came from Paksitan to Afghanistan----Thanks to America and Pakistan, we never had gun or gun culture in Afghanistan, as a matter of fact, gun culture have always been part of proud life of the FATA.

Everybody wants to put all the ills of Pakistan on the refugees, but dont forget that there have been reports of widespread child abuse by the pakistani orgin/pakistani nationals in the UK, when we saw that report, everybody here jumped and condemend the UK for giving Pakistani origin/national people a bad name, and now look at this. As long as Afghanistan is in a mess, we will keep on flooding everywhere, not only Pakistan but as long as our feet and energy can take us, we will do this for survival and survival of children, if you were in our shoes, you would have done the same thing. I know it is all humiliating for us, but there is no any alternative.

There is only one solution. Make them go away by gun point. Send in the army to support the people of Pakhtunkhwa. They have no legal documentation or permit to live there. I know there's lots of Afghani Pakhtuns posing as Pakistanis on the Internet, but they are not taken seriously and most Pakistanis know them for who they are.

Buddy we know it was really a headache for GoP to control lawless tribal people of Afghanistan as refugees during 70s and afterwards; those who you guys criticize of being warlords, gun sellers, thieves etc.. were assets of Pakistan during war against soviets because those people played a vital role for Pakistani establishment inside Mujahideens and however GoP knew of the outcomes they accepted them happily inside Pakistan but when they infiltrated larger cities and then they came into focus of normal Pakistani nationals.

During 70s very less population of Afghanistan was urbanized, when 5 mln+ people migrated to Pakistan they were mostly villagers and those who lived a civilized life inside Afghanistan rather flew to other countries or stayed in more developed parts of Pakistan such as Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and most of them are those who you guys have/had no complain about them.

But comparing the huge population of Pashtuns inside Pakistan with this hundred people strike doesn't represents the whole Pashtun nation inside Pakistan and this may be some political agenda thus GoP didn't took any legal action against them.

One good thing I heard just days before was a filtration of Afghans in Pakistan by allowing those who can invest 5 mln Rupees inside Pakistan and on reward Pakistan will give them permanent visa and some other facilities.

i don't think there's a huge problem with Afghan refugees in Pakistan. Most are Afghan Pashtun and generally the Pashtun population of Pakistan does not mind them.

The media does scapegoat them a little, more due to scoring some politicial points over the current Afghan government who in turn like to see the clash between the two countries elevate.

Reality is there's not a huge hatred for Afghan Pashtuns.

USA should leave afghanistan.... let the Afghans write their own destiny and the refugees should go back to their country after all this mess is over.... though afghan refugees have been mostly involved in crimes... but we cant just brand each and everyone of them... Anyways Good luck!

yeah yeah thousand of afghans living without paying taxes and enjoying in our country are abused by pakistanis !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pakistanis go to afghnistan for earning but afghn dont..

this alone shows how much afghns are enjoying it here

No there isnt and there never was....

The problems in terms of crime etc. from immigrants (illegal primarily) result from the fact that there are few legal avenues for income available, and return home is considered worse than the risks from an illegal livelihood. When so many have lost everything they had and live in desperate poverty, human nature will result in them resorting to doing whatever is necessary to survive.

Look at the illegal immigrants from Mexico and South America coming to the US for example - many of them will sell every single belonging they have to pay to be smuggled into the US, with no guarantee of success, or even ending their journey alive, and they still do it, again and again if they fail (alive that is).

The situation in Afghanistan is even worse than that in South America, and the terrain between Pakistan and Afghanistan far more rugged and 'unsealable'.

The best thing to do would be to declare an amnesty - perhaps in phases.

In the first phase declare an Amnesty for all those Afghans that have legal sources of income in Pakistan, provided they register with NADRA and accept Pakistani citizenship and revoke Afghan citizenship. These people can then be legalized, registered, taxed (if it applies) and made productive contributing citizens of Pakistan.

In a second phase, perhaps those without any legal source of income can be given amnesty depending on a case by case basis ... this would require a lot more work and investment, since the lack of income, or legal income, would mean some sort of government assistance in retraining or job placement. Some of these people may not have had a legal income simply because they were unable to get anyone to hire them or launch a business - again, could be handled on a case by case basis, and such retraining/placement program should be, ideally, an extension of a program already in place for Pakistanis.

yeah blame everyone...east....west....north...for your misfortunes...dont think about why they came here in the first place...did they ask you to meddle in their country's affairs in the 80s and before that.....and is not pakistaan getting millions of dollarrs from UNHCR by showing these afghans...?

Please don't make up lies. They tried to steal our land and meddled in our affairs by supporting domestic insurgency in Pakistan with the backing of the Soviet Union. It has been happening for almost 4 decades. What goes around comes around. Hilarious Bharatis trying to band together with the enemies of Pakistan. While you have a war torn caveman nation as your ally, we have a space age, modernized country as our alley- China.

Confusing. Weren't you welcoming these guys as your brothers when the Ruskies were at your borders in the 70s? So have they outlived their utility?

He has a point. i agree with him. It's a lot like the Sindhis welcoming every invader into Sindh and then complaining about it today. Even though they don't do a damn thing about it.

Not all Afghans, just Pashtun Afghans. We wish you best of luck in your country and with your people.

Ahmed have the Afghan Tajiks considered breaking away from Afghanistan joining Tajikistan? it would make a lot more sense.

That is absolutely not true. I've spoken to a Pakistani pakhtun lady once and she tells me they hate Pakistan to the core and call her people "the fake Pakhtuns." She says she and her people are sick of them plus this report is not the only one of it's kind. I've read many of such reports.

I notice the only Pakistani Pakhtuns who are apologetic to Afghans are the ones living abroad and have no idea of what the people of their Paktunkhwa province have to suffer through every day. Quite ironic that they will feel apologetic to the people of Eastern Afghanistan on the basis of common ethnicity yet will turn a completely blind eye to the nuisance their fellow Pakhtuns of Pakhtunkhwa have to suffer through on a daily basis since they don't live there.

Spotlight on Afghan refugees in Pakistan - The Washington Post

NOWSHERA, Pakistan — A few hundred men took to the streets in a suburb of this city early this month, furiously chanting for the expulsion of neighbors they described as interlopers.

The objects of their ire were Afghan refugees, millions of whom reside here in Pakistan. They are hardly newcomers — many fled war, Russian occupation or Taliban rule years or even decades ago. Many were born in Pakistan.

It is quite likely that most of the protestors were Hindkowans rather than Pashtuns.

Based on what?

There's no proof of that so why make the assumption that it is "quite likely?"
Because it puts a dent in the delusions some Indians cling to WRT Pakistan, and dents all the fanciful theories they have created based on the Pakistani Pashtun just itching to break away from Pakistan and join Afghanistan.

We are not tired of Afghans..... They are our brothers.... What we dont like is those who have big investments in afghanistan, Making plaza's and stuff are also living in Pakistan on refugee status.... Come on.... No Pakistani, No american, No Indian will ever be able to put Afghanistan back to its feets until the common afghani will agree to face teh challenges and start his economic activities in Afghanistan....

I strongly believe that Afghan refugees should be sent back to their home....no need to explain the reasons here. For more than 30 years Pakistan have sheltered Afghan refugees, in fact some of the refugees managed to become a millionaires with their inherited business skills but at what cost? Today majority of refugees are involved in smuggling drugs, food, narcotics, and a long list of items which have totally destroyed the people and industries in Pakistan. Any industry in Pakistan cannot progress if similar item is present in the market of course "smuggled" and "imported" on a dirt cheap price. I remember people use to give advice to one another to buy smuggled televisions instead of buying branded ones because of their cheap price. The point is if Afghan refugees are sent back to their homes and the Pak-Afghan border is protected more effectively than smuggling can be prevented and as a result our local industries can flourish properly which can solve many of our existing economic problems.
