Rawalpindi - Pakistani troops serving under the flag of United Nations at Darfur have Developed “Mournei Team Site” under the hostile security environment inhospitable terrain and earned the exceptional phrase of applause from the Force Commander United Nations Mission in Darfar (UNAMID), Lieutenant General Patrick Nyamvumba.

He said “Pakistani officers and soldiers are the best professionals“. Development of “Mournei Team Site” was a mammoth challenge. It was surmounted by the Sappers of Pakistan Army Engineers in a remarkable manner. As a good will gesture and a civil military cooperation project, Pakistan Army Engineers were tasked to improve the road in Mournei Town which was in a dilapidated state.

The project envisaged mammoth amount of earthwork including grading, levelling and stabilizing the road.It may be recalled that Pakistan has always endeavoured to provide maximum possible support to maintain peace and stability around the world and has been at the forefront in international peacekeeping missions.

Pakistan’s participation in peacekeeping activities of the United Nations reflects its belief in the brotherhood of mankind and its commitment to peace across the world.

Congrats to PA, for accolades it earned
Just to keep the record straight, there was no voting.
Also, it is not published in any pakistani newspaper, but I got the above news item in ispr website too.

Wow hinduguy - does it hurt you so much to see a post that is pro Pakistani that you have to come on and tarnish it by pretending to us that you congratulate us? I would rather you dont congratulate us and then tarnish it with a hint of sarcasm at the end of your post. What did you gain from it? Self proclamation of having the upper hand? Grow up and stop tarnishing any kind of good news with your bitterness that is voiced over your post.

The quality of our training at the military academies is second to none. I should know as I am a graduate of PAF Academy Risalpur.

I congratulate if the news is true. I should have clearly mentioned the "if".
It is not sarcastic, I have read such news items lot in this very forum, which turns out to be false news, all over the internet, in multiple forums, but not even in a single newspaper.

Lets wait for 2 more days, and see which pakistani newspaper publishes the news(which is already there in ISPR site, with exact incorrect spelling or darfur as darfar)

Also, will you be kind enough to agree that there was no vote, and change your post accordingly. Thanks.

BTW I have no doubt, PA officers/soldiers are very good, who deserve accolades( with superlative or otherwise)

Pakistan Peacekeeper for UN serving the best while at home they didn't serve the best. Because? Pakistan along Bangladesh and India are the top peacekeeping contribution (9000+ soldiers) to the UN and other countries including US, UK, Russia, France, China very less numbers.

As Pakistan celebrates 50 years of participation in United Nations peacekeeping, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon hailed the dedication of the troops, police and civilian personnel who play a crucial role in helping people around the world recover from war.

“Peacekeeping is a credit to us thanks to the fine work of our troop-contributing countries – Pakistan a leader among them,” Mr. Ban said last night in remarks at the opening of a photo exhibition celebrating 50 years of Pakistan’s participation in UN peacekeeping.

He noted that Pakistan’s contribution has been consistent ever since the first Pakistani peacekeeper served in the Congo 50 years ago. Pakistanis have served in 38 missions worldwide. They are involved now in nine of the UN’s most dangerous operations, with large contingents in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Sudan, Côte d’Ivoire and Liberia.

“The numbers tell only part of the story. The other part is played out in the lives of people recovering from war,” Mr. Ban told the gathering, held at Pakistan’s Mission to the UN.

From the women who are treated by female members of Pakistan’s medical unit to children who play football on fields constructed by Pakistani troops, the services rendered by brave Pakistani troops, police and civilian personnel deserve profound gratitude, said the Secretary-General.

At the same time, “this great contribution comes at a great cost,” Mr. Ban added, noting that 122 Pakistani military, police and civilian personnel have lost their lives while serving the Organization.

“They are sons and daughters of Pakistan … but they are also members of the United Nations family. We mourn their deaths. We remember their lives. And we vow to carry forward their valiant work for peace.”

If you don't mind me asking, how long ago was that and are you still in the service ?

I would rather say these three countries contribute to the UN mission not because they are best, but because they have something to gain.
Especially seeing that western countries do not contribute much to UN while fighting decisive wars elsewhere, which serves their interest.
