I think our security establishment has done poorly on Psy ops arena. This report shows how imp it is to guage trends , opinions and also opinion makers. This world is now in a war of perceptions. We are losing it. Reasons being;

1. We have poor media strength in global reach.
2. Psy ops directed only at domestic audience and that too based on poor premises and cheap tactics. No unified Psy ops effort or direction against enemy of state.
3. No counter psy ops apparatus. Totally non technical methods. Mainstream media rarely used due to either paucity of funds or ideas.

I think there should be a dedicated force with expert credentials of Mass media techniques. This is an art and science combined, you need experts in Human Psychology, Mass media, anthropology, defence and strategy experts, statisticians and a whole lot more to run this.

It's absolutely imperative to keep a sharp eye on all the happenings around oneself especially if living in an alien country. Critical Analysis of media reports leads to insight that may come in handy. Pakistan of course, should venture into the same with foreign media. I agree with @sady here!
