More strength to religiouse folks when the time comes to bury western stooges in pakstani society in future . This is anti islamic law ,periode! And it shows how low these liberal can go in their enmity to Allahs command. These bastard are steering this nation towards anarchy, you cant control mullah when you dont even take their input and try to bulldoze your way in issues like these. One more nail in coffin of these morally/financially currupt ruling alite of this nation.

We get it you want to marry little girls just don't mask it with Islam please just come forward as a pedophile that you are.

. . .
Scientifically a 13 year old girl can also give birth but that doesn't mean its ok to marry her at that age ,we are in 2019 we shouldn't be even discussing the religious justification to marry off at young age , i am shocked to see some members are opposing this legislation on this thread

I thought it was always 18, well atleast most people in kpk acted like it was. Most marry around 20ish or more.

. . .
Shame on them

Why 18? Should be 30
Come on, do not mess around,30? how about 60 for you.

I support raising legal age for marriage to 18yrs for bride and groom. Anyone in Pakistan can perform a wedding with presence of two witnesses. It is not necessary to register marriage in Pakistan. People in Pakistan can ignore this law and some could challenge this law in a court.
That is another story, firstly laws, second ly, law enforcement!

No country is perfect, but what need to be done should be done.

Thanks to MAO Zedong and his social reforms, no one dares to challenge the laws of CHINA communist party no matter what kind of land lord you are.( Land lords have been eliminated long time ago actually).
Marriage to a girl less than 20 is illegal and guilty in CHINA actually, the men shall be charged rapist or something .
Girlfriend less than 20 yrs old, yes, wife less than 20 yrs old, absolutely impossible !

Well said, women are our mothers, our sisters, our daughters, we should Respect them and take care of them and protect them coz we are men.

We do respect tradition but some traditions are supposed to be abandoned, otherwise, how the society can evolve and progress?!?

I would say the minimum legal age for marriage should be increased even to 20 years, because 18 looks to me still part of teenage where scientifically speaking the brain is still not fully developed.

You can make as many civil laws you like but in Pakistan the Islamic law overrides all of them.
Law enforcement should be handled well. Other wise it is just a law on paper.
In most states of US, it should be 18 for both, and we envy American higher life standard , ain't we?

In the West, we have emancipated minors. Normally they separate from their family, work and live on their own, have children, or marry at a young age and are considered adults. They have the same rights as adults.

There need to be exceptions to this case for extraneous circumstances.

Orphans who wish to become independent, children who escape abusive homes and wish to marry, children who wish to change their religion and fear their family (as in recent case of two Hindu origin girls,) and respect for tribal law.
