Karachi - Patron-in-Chief of Pakistan Hindu Council and Member of the National Assembly Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani has said that as per the teachings of Hinduism, a community’s leaders, decision-makers and others wielding influence are strictly prohibited to drink alcohol under any circumstances. While commenting on the Sindh High Court orders to shut down illegal liquor shops across the province, Vankwani said on Wednesday that the alcohol business was against the teachings of Hinduism. “Pakistan Hindu Council demands to ban it across the country,” he added.

Giving references from Hindus’ holy book ‘Shrimad Baghwat Piran’, he said that according to the teachings of Askand -2, Adhya -17, Shilok-38, 39, 40, 41, alcohol is strictly forbidden.

“Sale, production, importation and transportation of alcoholic beverages takes place in Pakistan under the cover of minorities, which is extremely offensive and insulting,” he said, and added, “I had also tried to table a bill in the parliament last year to ban the sale of alcohol in the name of minorities.”

Commenting on the court’s orders about the sale of alcohol beverages to minorities on their festivals and other events only, the lawmaker urged that it should remain banned throughout the year.

He expressed his willingness to appear before the Sindh High Court for presenting the view point on behalf of Pakistan’s Hindu community.

He also expressed sorrow over the loss of dozens of lives every year due to drinking of tainted liquor during the celebrations of holy festivals.

Many posters used to talk fondly about ur Murree beweries

I am confused now. I was lead to believe that alcohol is banned in Pakistan.
Anyways, I think more so-called Muslims will be against the ban than the hindus or any other minority.

. .
HaiN?

Why?

Just being curious...

Ah ok, just read it again.... gotcha, it is forbidden by Hinduism as well.

.
Awww finally Hindus gave a sharam haya call to that Qaazi who have been drinking muft ki sharaab since Urdu proverbs came into play..

BTW the ban won't be imposed on "Desi".. so don't be worried..:cheesy:

.
If certain Hindus in Pakistan don't want to drink alcohol, it is their business. Just don't impose it on others who do not share this belief.
