Pakistani-Canadians: Falling below the poverty line

indians would been even better position. but a lot of indians are taxi drivers and trucks. although they earn more than 60k they hire another clever desi accountant to show they corporations are at loss all times. lol

Many Pakistani Canadians live abroad and show themselves 'poor' purposefully so they could benefit money from Canada Revenue. Don't know how that works but many have been caught doing that.... I must say, Pakistanis are generally masters in doing fraud....

Neither can white people change and nor can Pakistanis....

time has changed sir. It used to be the time when Pakistani nationals were considered for doing frauds, scratching balls to get more swing in cricket etc. we now find only those from Pakistan who are very decent and want to migrate anyhow as they find a western country, a better place to live than pakistan. And there is one difference I noticed between indian and pakistani migrants for last 4-5 years, that is, a Pakistani migrant is generally happy with whatever job he may manage to get there, even if he is from a very good educational background, but an Indian migrant is always trying for something, in australia also, with US’s/EU’s firms also, with keep negotiating with Indian companies also and move to India if he may get a good salary in india itself. I find pakistani migrants very careful with their behavior and of low risk taking attitude, as compare to migrants of other Asian countries. …………..

Pakistanis are often self employed - there is form for people who are self employed to show less earnings.

sir it has truth but we are also ignoring one main point that high qualified migrants of the country like china, thailand, taiwan, malaysia, including India and Indonesia do keep trying for a good job back home also but the same isn't seen with the migrants of Pakistan, Bangladesh and many arab nations. i mean, 100s of thousands of indian professionals have backed to India from US during last 4-5 years, same is true in case of China and ASEAN nations also, isn't it? there is a sense that even on low income group, as per this article, people from Pakistan are happy there as they would get more welfare and government benefits while being in low income group also? i think :pop:

is it so bad in canada? It isn't THAT bad in Europe...

Well i have lived in Europe as well, i.e. in England, France, and in Italy. In terms of getting a job, Canada is probably the worst. Foreign degrees are not accepted and you have to do many pre-requisites, i.e. exams and stuff. As far as government care and security is concerned, i think Canada is the best in this sense... So, i think every country has positives and negatives. I wouldn't pin pointedly blame one whole country because of 1 issue.

.
And don't forget the fact some Pakistanis are more likely to report incorrect earnings in order to get government and tax benefits.

Most Indians work in gas stations or as school janitors here in USA.... An Indian friends actually said he didnt care what job he got, only if it feeds his joint family... Right now I am in office and I have a Indian janitor, I say naamaste he says naamaste back...

I think because many Pakistanis immigrants come to Canada to retire and have very little income to show at that stage in life, the appear to be poor. This does not mean they are poor. They just don't have any income generated in Canada. I also know a lot of Pakistanis who work in Middle East and leave their families in Canada so that their children can get good education. Their wives stay with the children in Canada and do not work and as such they have no income to show. Consequently, all these families appear to be very poor because there is no income being generated in Canada ( their husbands earnings in Middle East does not show up in the statistics).

All these anomalies skew the statistics to paint a dire picture that is not reflective of reality.

I didnt want to make any comment on the religious aspect of this news, but there is something I noticed, that is, a comparison between Muslim religious background Pakistan's nationals with Christian religious background Philippines as below: (does WOT taking toll on Pakistani people living in West?) should Pakistani nationals get converted to Christianity like Philippines to improve these datas, Im just asking

Here we have one more news in this category, which states that Pakistani and Bangladeshi people face the highest rate of visa rejection from British embassy, so we would assume the same for Canada, Australia type countries also, which is also confirmed by the news about the highest fall of migrants from Pakistan to Canada, as compare to highest gain by Christian religious backgroud Philipinnes………

Pakistani rules would always be cleared with their talks with the British and British origin rulers of UK/Canada/Australia etc that even since the birth of Pakistan in 1947, Pakistan was promised for full support from Britain and it was the main reason why Mr Jinnah always supported Britain to resist Mr Gandhi’s efforts to boycott British products in India/ Quit India movement etc, and also he served as Governor General of Britain also till his death. Refusing visa applictaions of Pakistani and Bangladeshi migrants is nothing but their betrayal to Pakistan and East Pakistani nationals. Pakistani rulers would confirm to the British rulers that Pakistani nationals deserve to be treated by them in similar to Australian and Canadian origins who were always loyal to Britain and refusing entry of Pakistan’s/Bangladesh’s nationals to UK/Australia/Canada is nothing but its about stabbing Pakistan’s nationals in their back……........

British Queen and Prince Charles must come clean about their changed attitude about Islamic background Pakistan/Bangladesh and the reason why they fovor Philipinnes’s christian people as compare to long time loyals of Pakistan and East Pakistan??????????????????????

It is relevant to mention here that 41 percent visa applications of Pakistanis belonging to different walks of life were rejected by the UK during last year.

According to the British Home Office Statistics, as quoted by the BBC, the second largest, 31 percent, after Pakistan were Bangladeshi visa applicants who were refused the visa while only 14 percent Indian visa applicants were refused during the last year.

Stop generalizing the whole nation ..

Muslims face "massive discrimination" when applying for jobs, according to the first scientifically validated study of anti-Muslim bias among employers in France.

Researchers now want to study whether there is a similar bias in Britain, where unemployment among Muslims is higher than in any other religious group.

The French study found that a fictional job applicant with a traditionally Christian first name was more than two-and-a-half times more likely to receive a response from a potential French employer than an identical applicant with a Muslim name.

The scientists who carried out the research believe the highly significant difference in response rates was entirely due to the perceived religious affiliations of the job applicant rather than any prejudice connected with differences in race, age or gender.

The unemployment rate among British Muslim men is around 13 per cent, which is approximately three times higher than the rate among men belonging to other faiths. Young Muslims are at even higher risk of being unemployed. Muslims aged between 16 and 24 have the highest jobless rates of any group and are more than twice as likely to be unemployed compared to Christians of the same age, with a jobless rate of 28 per cent compared with 11 per cent, according to the Office of National Statistics.

The study in France may explain why Muslims in European countries are more likely to be without jobs than members of other religions. It attempted to eliminate the possibly confounding prejudices of race by concentrating on second-generation Senagalese immigrants to France, who can be either Muslim or Christian.

The researchers, led by David Laitin of Stanford University in California, created and mailed out 275 pairs of résumés to French employers advertising for jobs. Each of the paired résumés was identical in terms of job qualifications and experience except for the names of the applicants.

One of the applicants had a Christian given name, "Marie Diouf", while another had a Muslim given name, "Khadija Diouf". To emphasise the religious difference in the applicants, Maire Diouf said she worked for Catholic Relief and was a member of Christian scouts, and Khadija Diouf said she had worked for Islamic Relief and was a member of Muslim scouts.

As a scientific control, the researchers compiled a third fictional résumé in the name of "Aurelie Menard", who could be identified as a rooted French person with no assumed religion – unlike "Diouf" which in France is easily identified as a Senagalese name. Every employer received a résumé of Aurelie Menard with a résumé of either Marie Diouf or Khadija Diouf – employers may have detected a test if they received applications from both Marie and Khadija Diouf, researchers said.

Here in the UK many of the Pakistani community are unemployed.

Many extended family live among others. This type of lifestyle makes leeches, and folks who aren;t willing to push themselves because they don't have to and have family to fall back on.
And a lot of Pakistanis are setting up businesses that go bust.

Small fast food restaurants, multiple on one bloody street.
of course one of them is bound to fail, it's common sense.

And the British born kids of Pakistani origin, a lot of them are lazy, flunk school.

Out of all the ethnic minorities Pakistani and Bangladeshis have the lowest average income, behind Afro-Caribbean and far behind Indian and Chinese.

sad but true
