Pakistani Ambassador to USA Sherry Rehman to be charged with Blasphemy

Brother you r wrong. This law needs a better inquiry system for sure. But this law should no be removed otherwise people will act independently and there will be no stopping them. This law was present that's why rimsha was saved otherwise no protection would be provided to her.
(And for those who think this law fucks with all due respect )if somebody says anything wrong about your family particularly your parents your reaction would be very aggressive and if someone says anything wrong about Holy Prophet(PBUH). Then you say this law fucks. The purpose of law is to make people realize that they should respect our religion(and same goes for us).

Rimsha who is a handicapped little girl was kept in jail for days in a dark, dank little room... and guess what? Each witness who was testifying against Mullah Jadoon eventually withdrew. Fun how these terrorists escape each time. The blasphemy law in this time and age is a cruel, insidious Wahabi design (Wahabis were supported by the British btw) to keep our nations backwards and burning in the flickering, smoking flames of religious dogmatism and terrorism. It is our job to resist these.

The mob you are talking about is something that needs to be controlled. It is like a parasite that can only destroy. There is no justification for reacting violently. Basically all the west is doing is mocking Islam and we have dozens of idiot ghairat brigade guys knocking things down. Someone will tell me to respect the west, I won't no matter what else they try, I saw what those people are and how they think of us, no political grouping can exist in that land. Someone tell me to respect Islamists-we all know their father is the US of A.

Another thing. I find it really surprising that none of us wish to learn a thing from people like Ibn Rushd (Averoes), Ibni Sina, Ibn Khaldun, Pir Roshan or even Ali Abd Al Razziq or Allama who supported Turkish secularism. We are afraid of it because we have somehow learned to equate it with anti-Islam.

Also stop repeating the F-word please after him. This is not a Mr Bean show where copying others is fun.
@Karachiite... what you said in that post about blasphemy law better explained with reasons behind what you say, without abusive language might have been better. No offense.

The SC is going to entertain a Blasphemy case against Sherry Rehman for something so stupid like this?

Even if she does get indicted, we can be sure that some crackhead will start his own personal court and treat her as guilty and make up his mind to kill her.

This case will give the matter popularity and the words Blasphemy and Sherry Rehman will be all over the place.

May be some crackheads want to replace this doll from ambassador seat, this can be real game. It may bring much difficulties for her in official and social circles.

Those crackheads can only be from two places, PPP or Army.

Now let's look at it, Zardari appointed her and he is a good chum of hers, so I don't think it would be PPP.

Now Army, they want some relations with US on their basis and want to get their point across more effectively, and perhaps Sherry Rehman is a blockade in the way. I don't think this is the case either as the Army is getting their point across the board, and Sherry Rehman is very happy being a lazy ambassador! Anyways, if there was something like this, it would have been all over the media.

So I don't think it is anybody in power right now.

Fck a blasphemy law and anybody that love it.

Sir
Iwould be careful in usin such catagorical terms without researching. The law exists i n islam. Howeverits application is wrong and needs to be amended. For a Muslim after the love od Allah should come the love of the prophetSAW. It islovical to ensjre that the person wbom yoh revre above all else except Allah should be protected from ignorance and vileness.

Everybody free to speculate; as you, me and others here. In my point of view most strong institution of our country put their hands in it because someone didn't listen them before her appointment. Blasphemy Law, religion, social crimes, social abuse, scandals, courts & law, state rules violations, anti-state activities/blames all could be brought to use when they didn't need particular person or dislikes.

.
I second that! This law is seriously being abused to shut people up and threaten them. This really is getting out of hand now!

So are other laws being abused........theft, compensation, adultery, defaulter etc. etc........should we have to ditch all of them.....as a matter-of-fact each and every single law is being misused.

This law has no place in a civilized society but again Pakistani society is far from civilized. Instead of justifying their violent reactions why not educate them and make them more tolerant? Why not punish these violent reactions? This law only protects Islam, why does it not protect other religions? I've seen how other Muslims abuse certain religions and their gods.
And lol you think Rimsha is protected from this law? She and her family went through hell and currently are living in a undisclosed location to hide from violent and intolerant Muslims. Rimsha would still have a normal life had this barbaric law not have existed and Pakistani society was more tolerant and not extremist.

Then Pakistan should not call itself a democracy. Democracy does not condone stonage barbaric laws like the blasphemy law that gives you a death sentence for insulting a religious figure. Laws like these are just begging to be misused and exploited and that is what's happening in Pakistan. If someone insults you're prophet you don't kill
them like some savage. You ignore them, people say all sorts of stuff. That doesn't mean we should all become violent barbarians. Pakistan's biggest flaw is that it mixes western democratic laws with Islamic stone age laws. The outcome is horrifying.

...you Americans cannot shift blame for the patheticism of your ancestors onto those you colonized for ages and left with border disputes.
As opposed to you, of course. I'm an American and accept no responsibility for British colonial laws.

ISI took the fall while the US decided it could do what it wanted just to see a Soviet defeat.
That is so off I'm compelled to ignore what follows.

Are you trying to tell me you did not know Zia was one of the worst Islamists in the history of our country where once we had the freedom to do whatever the hell we wanted? Even small details, every conversation with Pakistani politicians is collected in databases as wikileaks revealed and you did not know this visible fact that stuck out like a cowboy hat on an Americans beautiful round skull which can't understand this simply fact?
Didn't know the "agencies" were quite that thorough. You don't answer where Americans' responsibility for Pakistan ends and Pakistanis' - yourself, personally - responsibility begins.

You let down the secularists, you let down Islamists which resulted in those towers coming down and you let down the Nationalists.
To the U.S., the relationship is one of mutual defense, as defined in numerous diplomatic agreements. Pakistani power players have long sought to convert or portray that into a straight alliance where the U.S. is dragged into supporting Pakistani offensives abroad and at home. Sometimes they succeed but that's out of circumstance, not moral right.

It shouldn't surprise you when people wish US falls right on its face.
Self-honesty is a quality almost all Pakistanis seek to avoid, the preferred route being fantasy and denial. The U.S. is no pusher of diseased fantasies and thus not responsible for Pakistan being high on its narcotics of excess nationalism, fascism, religion, socialism, or racism (Pakistanis' drug of choice varies as is convenient).

If US stops interfering in the rest of the world and acting as global hegemon you will find out that there will actually be no line to draw.
Doubtful. Your attitude is that the U.S. "owns" responsibility forever. That way you or your family can initiate and continue crimes at home and abroad forever and ever, to your own profit, and blame the U.S. Even if you nuked the U.S. to oblivion I can see you would blame the U.S. for your ills for generations to come.

What does Pakistan need more: scapegoats or responsible citizens?

@haviZsultan Jinnah's defence of Tilak was indeed nationalistic, not just professional, he was a congressman himself then.

In anycase I was referring to Iqbal. And I'm not insulting your founding fathers, they inherited the society and founded the state, did not create the soceity, neither did the US. This is your problem.

What about the Mexican land you took and the natives you murdered. And the war in Philippines? Btw weren't British, Spaniards, French and other Europeans your ancestors. Or were you a black slave brought to a plantation to do their work for them?

Americans happen to be amazing people who make no mistakes I believe. This is a quality only Americans have. Despite being the only country to have used nuclear bombs to kill 200,000 innocents this same country believes it has a right to do what it wishes. I don't know if I should laugh at how highly you hold your head after crimes against humanity or weep for where the world has come to today.

That is so off I'm compelled to ignore what follows.

I could say the same about the stuff I hear about ISI daily. Frankly I am willing to admit ISI is an issue-will you admit genocide against Japan? Will you admit CIA is a terrorist organization? How does ISI take the fall and CIA escapes? Sounds like a lot of fun isn't it. Turn our lands into hell, cause us a damage of $80 billion fighting a war that shows no sign of ending and in the end abandoning so-called allies. A traitor is perhaps always a traitor.

In any case none of what I ever say is un-researched. This should be proof. Naom Chomsky:

The bin Laden network, I doubt if anybody knows it better than the CIA, since they were instrumental in helping construct it. This is a network whose development started in 1979, if you can believe President Carter’s National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski. He claimed, maybe he was just bragging, that in mid–1979 he had instigated secret support for Mujahedin fighting against the government of Afghanistan in an effort to draw the Russians into what he called an “Afghan trap,” a phrase worth remembering. He’s very proud of the fact that they did fall into the Afghan trap by sending military forces to support the government six months later, with consequences that we know.

Bay of Pigs invasion, declassified documents on Iraq war showing some insidious designs. Waterboarding? Ring a bell? No crimes according to you? I don't understand how you claim to be a moral power who can tell us what to do. You are acting like a typical person who shifts blame. I don't understand how your media can paint ISI as the enemy without saying how the CIA has been the real issue in the Afghan-Soviet war which we couldn't hope to win without US support.

Didn't know the "agencies" were quite that thorough. You don't answer where Americans' responsibility for Pakistan ends and Pakistanis' - yourself, personally - responsibility begins.

I did. The last part was your reply which went over your powerful American brain which has a superiority-complex. I said when US doesn't interfere in my countries affairs I could easily be shouted down as an idiot if I said US was responsible for so and so. Instead I can bring entire files of proof of where and in what cases US has been responsible for things. CIA does have declassified files btw and wikileaks was a help for journalists worldwide.

I understand. For a nation such as US a commitment to any nation is not forthcoming. It resulted in the fall of the Shah and many other US backed governments which hoped the US would support them. I hope it does not result in the fall of the US next, because oh boy... the celebrations here might get a bit outta control.

Self-honesty is a quality almost all Pakistanis seek to avoid, the preferred route being fantasy and denial.

You do not know me yet. I am one of the biggest critics of Pakistani policy and a lot of Pakistanis hate me for it. But I believe refusing to take responsibility for the world they see today, seeing the world as a personal property and believing they are morally entitled to tell the world what it should or should not do are qualities of your nation?

The U.S. is no pusher of diseased fantasies and thus not responsible for Pakistan being high on its narcotics of excess nationalism, fascism, religion, socialism, or racism (Pakistanis' drug of choice varies as is convenient).

You remind me of these old battery operated power ranger toys I used to have. You turned on the switch and one of them would say "We are the power rangers. We fight all evil". The thing is no one knows what that pathetic power ranger actually considers evil. Is it anyone who says a word against him? In that case he is a tyrant.

Basically when the rest of the world has been painted as an enemy and as a "potential aggressor" for years upon years upon years then it is no surprise that the only thing Americans excel at is war-mongering or war. Another statistic. In 82% of the wars in ica was involved.

I doubt you will ever learn. Till you have might it will make you right... but through the barrel of the gun is no peace-only everlasting war... something that is written in my book too about the Pashtuns. You go to a region and fail to understand the local people you will go home disgraced. In either case if we have to pay the price with a Taliban government in Afghanistan much more hostile than the one before for our role in murdering them I believe then again the blame will be on you.

Stop being a child. Me and my family don't own oil businesses like the Wahabi Saudi Sheikhs you bribe. No one should be nuked. But many Americans have an average mindset of a psychopathic murderer. This is why Hiroshima and Nagasaki were nuked. By the way that bombs your credibility when you talk about Pakistani and Iranian nukes right back to the stone age, as one American diplomat once threatened Pakistan.

What does Pakistan need more: scapegoats or responsible citizens?

I could ask the very same question of you. Is there anyone in your country willing to rectify its mistakes... no scratch that. Is anyone even willing to recognize the mistakes of this country? You will parrot the official US line. I remember something from manufacturing dissent I could post here but you are a robot of the US doing whatever you are told.

I think you already have selected EU, UK or US where you want to get asylum so such garbage is coming from you. BTW they love to receive such theoreticians or mind sets.

Hasn't she effectively been paralyzed as minister due to this inquiry? Do you think that was the point?

No that was due to clash with Rehman malik, he threatened her... that is why she resigned from ministry.

can anybody speak ill about Christianity or Jesus(A.S) or Judaism in west or about Hiduism in India. I dont think so. they have punishments who do this and they are protcting their religion. pakistan being an Islamic country needs to protect Islam.
And 1 thing more even in the presence of this law we hear of blasphemy on regular basis. If this law had not been present how frequent these incidents had been.
