Forty-eight years after the independence of Bangladesh, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has completely removed Pakistan’s name from all the border pillars of the country.

The BGB has removed the label “PAKISTAN/PAK” and replaced it with “BANGLADESH/BD” on the border pillars, a press release of BGB says.

The paramilitary troopers started replacing the labels on the pillars following Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s order in which she observed that some of the pillars of the bordering areas still show Pakistan’s name, the press release read.

After the partition of India-Pakistan in 1947, more than 8,000 pillars were installed, in which “IND-PAK/INDIA-PAKISTAN” label was engraved.

These pillars were in the bordering areas of Satkhira, Jashore, Chuadanga, Kushtia, Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Naogaon, Panchagarh, Kurigram, Netrokona, Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sunamganj, Sylhet, Brahmanbaria, Comilla and Chattogram.


BGB completed this mammoth task within a short period of time with BGB’s own funds, the release added.

There is no leadership after Hasina Sheikh. Where will Bangladesh move ideologicaly after the artificial Bengali nationalism tones down. Without Islamic ideology Bangladesh is a rudderless ship, might as well join in with Indian Bengal.

Very reason I oppose secularism in Pakistan. Strong ideologies keep you from merging into other ideologies and ideas overtime. History is full of ethnicities and nations merging, getting adsorbed or perishing gradually taken over by groups who were stronger in cohesion and stronger purpose. A cycle that repeats. The common theme is contracting commonalities and spheres of influence overtime.

Unfortunately Bangladesh of today wants to run away from its Islamic roots. When anybody from Pakistan curses Bangladesh, they do it for Shekh Hasinas open hatred for Pakistan and anti Islam drive.

If this sham secularism isn't checked, what reason will be there for Bangladesh to remain separate from Indian Bengal? Just a line made in history?
