Why? If you ( India ) wants to be a regional or global player, then its needs to learn that there is no such thing as free lunch, you want to influence things outside of India then you need to get out of your comfort zone. You want people to take India seriously then project your influence, and getting involved in risky projects is one way to do that.

Rather,I think India will prefer to bypass Pakistan,you know,we may even ask Iran to join.Just like what we did to IPI pipeline,making it II pipeline,bypassing Pakistan completely.I think you know about the roller coaster ride named "Indo-Pak relationship".

You see,frankly,India is not comfortable to make a deal with Af Taliban and we still view them as "Terrorist Group".Thats is why I'm saying this,TAPI might get changed as well.

Though till now,there is no such stance by Indian Govt...

I fully agree with you,it is better that India should get out of this project TAPI as soon as possible and go for TAII. In case of war or hostility,pakistan will stop the flow of gas or increase the transit fee

Yes the government can and will secure the Pipeline, not only the government but also those villagers and common folks through which the pipeline runs will do the same, remember these common folks will directly benefit from the project in terms of schools, clinics etc. For instance the electricity lines that run from Central Asia is being guarded successfully using the same method.

Talis are maggots, they will be killed if they don't negotiate period!

Sir forgive me if i m wrong, there are tons of documentaries where journalists were embedded with Afghan Taliban , whichever village they went to, they were welcomed, offered food. When their fighters were interviewed, many said they were farmers would return back to farming once foreigners leave. There is a general view that rural Pushtun areas have a soft corner for Talibs probably cuz until Ghani came into power, the majority pushtuns were sidelined from the govt. I mean take example of Dostum, he was chief of staff in ANA, now he is Vice President, he is famous for massacre of thousands of prisoners, there is a video of him threatening pushtun villagers with threats of rape, pillage & burning down their villages. One can't expect sympathy for ANA among rural Pushtuns if military is led by people like Dostum. In my view such decisions push the rural Pushtuns into the arms of Taliban. There is a dire need to talk to Afghan nationalistic elements in Taliban while those with a pan-islamist approach ( with global agenda) should be targeted !!!

Why is this news? If anything, Afghanistan should be happy, because this pipeline is going to directly benefit Afghanistan. Ensuring it's safety is in everyone's interest.

I doubt it, such a thing would result in Turkmenistan and Afghanistan getting involved against Pakistan. Your fears are unfounded. TAPI is good for the region, and forces both Pakistan and India to cooperate. It's also a shame that India decided to back out of the IPI deal because of western pressure, the new underwater pipeline is a waste, India should rejoin the IP line.

This pipeline was among the reasons American oil companies backed attacking Afghanistan , after 15 years of war they want this pipeline to go through , India will just have to agree #56inch won't work in fact India has already backtracked on #56inch type bravado
