Pakistan will release captured Indian pilot tomorrow as a peace gesture. Prime Minister Imran Khan

I doubt India will look at it that way. Modi will immediately claim as a victory. I am tired of this one sided peace efforts by Pakistan.
I think this is one of those rare times that Pakistan Admin has taken over the prerogative and IK has done it well. He has announced it in parliament and he could not have done it better.

No vienna convention, no haggling, no 8 days... Just a goodwill peace gesture!

I am Indian and I genuinely see this as a masterstroke and a great gesture!

although a great step...
this development may seem US/Saudi intervention for an understanding in between India and Pakistan to avoid any further escalation and if it is so, India may back stab us.

"The decision of when to release a PoW is a bit unclear. Article 118 of the Geneva III provides that “prisoners of war are to be released and repatriated immediately upon cessation of active hostilities.”

Nations that are involved in an internal or global conflict against state and non-state actors use the ambiguity of this Article to justify sustained detention with indefinite release of potential PoWs, the narrative being that hostilities amongst splinter groups never really cease.

However, in the case of hostilities between states (Pakistan and India), the “cessation of active hostilities” may be signaled by an agreement between them, or may even be done through gesture (e.g., reciprocal releases of PoWs by the states)."

According to Geneva convention then the hostilities have to end before the return so loc is still under exchange of fire and Kashmir being disputed we can hold on to the pilot under law?

Oh wow, was that the best zinger you can come up with, guess this must be putting a lot of strain on your limited brain capacity.

this post compels me to apologize to the door knob. How could i even compare.

Its a good gesture, de escalate things, don't whine like kids.Live your life and excel.

.
I don't agree with it at all. What are we getting in return exactly?

. . .
I think IK has become the bigger man now by putting his hand forward through this gesture, The ball is in NM’s court.
All our prayers to the pilot and his family! All the soldiers that were martyred for the country should be remembered in prayers.
Lets see where do we go from here.

Imran Khan will face a lot of anger from Pakistan but I agree with him, releasing the Indian Pilot is a good step towards deescalating the situation, however it might be worth nothing if Modi is still hungry for war.

. .
Not good decision
You are sending pilot back while they want you to capture more ..dont understand why we are in rush

I wish that there were more sane people like you in India but there arent much at the moment. Modi will use this pilot as a election tool. The release of captured pilot is too early to get much out it, instead we are handing a victory tool to Modi.

This decision was very sudden, did IK even took military leadership into confidence?

Everyone's gonna regret this decision once India attack again...in some days.

That's how you turn a military victory in to a political defeat.
