Pakistan will release captured Indian pilot tomorrow as a peace gesture. Prime Minister Imran Khan

.
"The decision of when to release a PoW is a bit unclear. Article 118 of the Geneva III provides that “prisoners of war are to be released and repatriated immediately upon cessation of active hostilities.”

Nations that are involved in an internal or global conflict against state and non-state actors use the ambiguity of this Article to justify sustained detention with indefinite release of potential PoWs, the narrative being that hostilities amongst splinter groups never really cease.

However, in the case of hostilities between states (Pakistan and India), the “cessation of active hostilities” may be signaled by an agreement between them, or may even be done through gesture (e.g., reciprocal releases of PoWs by the states)."

Wah to theek hai par main question is WHY ?

Probably because he's not petty like his counterpart, Darinder Modi. Watch his full speech to get the correct context.

any source for the news?

If true - this would be a shining example of a serious change in stance by the Pakistan Government.. I known, indian press will call it victory.. In my humble view - this is professional conduct in very good faith and must be responded with, in equal good faith

I doubt India will look at it that way. Modi will immediately claim as a victory. I am tired of this one sided peace efforts by Pakistan.

Releasing the pilot is actually a good step, the ball is now in India's court, I can understand people think its a weak gesture but in international diplomacy we are the mature ones and India is the one acting like a war mongering state. And don't forget he had to be released eventually, he's a POW not a hostage.

I think IK has become the bigger man now by putting his hand forward through this gesture, The ball is in NM’s court.
All our prayers to the pilot and his family! All the soldiers that were martyred for their countries should be remembered in prayers.
Lets see where do we go from here.

Let’s wait and see

Pakistan has a history of washing away it’s advantage

We did it in Kargil too
