What's new

Pakistan will receive three more AWACS in upcoming months

Yes it may true but you got understand that by buying Chinese we might not be getting the best of the technology but at-least it is not sanctioned prone, as is in the case of buying western stuff. Besides, Chinese stuff is getting better with time.
AWACS are not offensive weapons. US was hesitant to allow such assets to Pakistan because it would introduce a new paradigm in the defense capabilities of South Asia. That's exactly why we saw US objecting to even Phalcon sales to China. However, not all the platforms are sanctions proof, now three nations having AWACS assets in the region changes the policy constraint. I don't see any issues in acquiring more modern platforms given the depth of the pockets. You clearly saw the difference of quality in the flying demonstration of JF-17 and F-16 and the fact that Army continues to use Orliken . That should certainly clear doubts about why PAF still loves F-16s as front-liner, or we continue to trust our Oerlikon AA guns and good old RBS-70s despite having many homegrown as well as Chinese systems entering service in recent years. Once an aviator explained to me the difference of Russian and Western techs as ,"In west, they put a pilot in cockpit and then design an aircraft around him. In Russia, they design an aircraft first and then stuff a pilot in the machine". Sanctions are a threat but the quality-sanctions trade off still favors western systems or the rest of the world (As PAF continues to search for more falcons, Navy continues to bag more EDA ships and army still looks towards more US equipment and Cobras).

F-16 has a visible advantage in vertical maneuvering over JFT. JFT pulled out earlier in vertical maneuvers than falcon. Which may lead to an inference that F-16 can stay at higher energy levels vs JFT in a fight, a critical advantage from the point of view of dog fighting.

f-16 is a beast in dog fights
but the world is moving to BVR weaponry

AWACS are offensive weapons. they allow your air force to co-ordinate attacks against your enemy

On come on!!!
Jang group with its pathetic reporting.

This news is about the ZDK-03 (Karakorum Eagle) already operational with Pakistan. The deal was for four aircraft and of that we have got 3 already. The last one is scheduled to be delivered this year and that is that. The news is not about some new platform but the already existing one!

According to this report one plane cost is more then Billions of dollars :hitwall::hitwall:

there all sorts of rumors about repairability of damaged one (excluding the one completely destroyed)
But the deal for repair was made public by official sources, not by our specialist correspondents in the Urdu media. I am aware of all the rumours but what is available through official media is that one AC destroyed and repair contract in place equates to contract for replacement of this with the training plane. This is what we know from official media and from reliable posters of information, like Sir Fatman and others, not from chacha mamma sources.

F16 is the plane that is also well effective in BVR missiles and in today's world best BVR is fitted in F16 (AIM-120D)

Everybody is talking about Airforce, what is the Position of Naval air force and now sea limits are also increased and I do feel that PN should also have an AWACS just like E-2 Hawkeye..

Economic zone has increased but not by that large amount which would require a naval air wing. The current assets i.e. P3Cs are capable enough to maintain an overwatch.

As far as I know, PAF operates AIM-120C-5 and not AIM-120D.
If AIM-120D has been acquired, kindly share more info on how and when.

Thanks.

You're correct, PAF operates AIM-120C5s not the latest variant.

PN needs a lot of things and plans to acquire them as well for e.g. sometime back i read an article that quoted PN wants to replace its Mirage Vs with a naval variant of JF-17 but at the end of the day budget is somethings that has kept our hands tied.

1-The mirages dont belong to PN, rather PAF
2-The planes will be replaced with JFTs in due course (exact time still unknown)
