The above data are self-explanatory, China wants to promote Eurasian economic integration, through multi-lateral platforms like SCO or BRICS or AIIB if they come in handy while remain a central/instrumental role in all such frameworks. In an Eurasian vision, Russia will lead energy provision, China will lead the rest of the business, and both as UNSC P5 will co-ordinate geopolitical position. I can understand India's hate towards China, but seriously why they ignore the huge contrast in ground realities and think they are of similar weight?

Anyways...on why India thinks it to be in the similar weight to China is demographics and future potential. If you check macroeconomic indicators in late 80's and early 90's, you will find India and China to be similar. What 5% more growth rate over a decade or a two could do to an economy is the difference between India and China today. 10, 20 or for that matter 30 years is a short frame of time in a nation's life. Given the similar demographics, India is the only country on this planet that can take on China, even if India grows at the IMF forecasted growth rates.

The slowdown has drastic impact bro..3 trillion got wiped off in a period of 10 days, assuming many more hidden issues...any more turmoil - their real estate for e.g. will see investor confidence go through the floor.

Millions of chinese poor have lost their savings on the stock market...and th market is still artificially up by 70%.

The chinese are selling their gold...prices of gold has dropped down because of it.

the chinese banks are spending 200 billion dollars in trying to prop up their stock market and its not helping.

China cannot move forward as fast India as can. China supports Pakistan because it has its own disputes with India. I don't think Srilanka has any issue with India.

In fact, Pakistan has more strategic tie ups with US and is considered a NATO ally. If India's coming closer to US was the reason, then they should first suspect Pakistan. During cold war, India had defence ties with USSR and USA was India's largest economic partner, USSR never had such doubts or fear.
India does lot of business with China with heavy trade imbalance in chinese favour. But India keeps her differences confined to where they are.

These charts are about multi-lateral organizations like SCO or BRICS, not specific to any country, I can use them in my other business purposes. I know China carries heavy weight on FX, GDP, etc., in these orgs, the charts just give better visuals on how heavy it is especially in global hi-tech exports.

The current facts are obvious, weight disparities between India and China are in high multiples, even in order of magnitude.

In terms of future potential, I don't think the single element of population size should be a key factor. Note these countries are of similar population size e.g. US-Indonesia, Japan-Bangladesh-Philippines, Korea-Bruma, Taiwan-Syria, and many others. Other than population, there is nothing similar in demographics between these pairs.

Yes, China had low macroeconomic indicators back then like India today, however there is no similarity between the two other than size of population, let's not hyphenate the two countries. Prof Carl Rosberg in the early 1960s at the University of California/Berkeley led an economic study comparing Ghana vs South Korea (which had low macroeconomic indicators at the time), favoring Ghana to outperform the latter. Well the results, the sharp contrast, are obvious today. The point is, compared to population size or even natural resources, there are other factors more critical to weight/prosperity of a nation.
