Pakistan warns of a nuke race on backdrop of Indian Nuke deal

Most of the world doesn't even know where Pakistan is situated, only a few understand geo-political importance of this region which nullifies what ever perception they have. They'll follow western media whithout hesitation.
This is one of the main issues to begin with. Pakistan is not a significant contributor to the global economy, something India has managed to attain after years of stability, reform and restructuring which has subsequently resulted in sustained economic growth. Pakistan IMO needs to do the same.

Pakistan is already working on similar deal with China and France. Just a matter of time but we'll get it done....we always do!

Neo, China cant do anything here unilaterally. Till now, India and Pakistan had been recieving nuclear reactors on 'grandfather clauses'. China cant bring Pakistan out of the nuclear blacklist unless US and other countries agree.

And France also cannot and will not do anything in this regard.
The maximum China can do is give its own nuclear technology to Pakistan.

For getting exempted from the nuclear apartheid for the rest of the world, to commence nuclear trade with the rest of the world, you would need an agreement with the IAEA(through voting) and then through by the NSG. And the NSG works only through consensus, that means if the US aint with you, you aren't going through. Its sad, but its the reality.

The nuclear deal is on the fast track, but until it is sewed up, one cannot take it as done.

It appears that President Bush is very keen to get the deal done before he demits office.

Discrimination these days is the way to go, no surprise at all. The countries Texas John mentioned, well Bosnia we know why US intervened there, wasn't the love for Muslims but rather to negate the Russian influence there and create a friendly home ground to serve the US interest. Turkey is a secular state so it doesn't exactly fall in the Muslim country context and not to forget all these countries are not nuclear hence no threat to anyone at all(Israel). Pakistan is a different case, Muslim+Nuclear= thong in the eye of the US. If we demand parity we need to do it on our own, we cant expect any justice from the US in this regards. Also our policy of beggars should stop. The recent Saga that took place with the F-16 really disgusted me.
The only way i see it is to send this policy of minimum nuclear deterrence of ours down the toilet drain. We by now should have enough expertise to built our own nuclear plants, and we certainly can import one or two from China to give us a start. Every time we built a nuclear reactor we do not need to bring it under the safe guards of the IAEA. If we can built one, certainly we should have the capability to safeguard it as well.

I agree to some points you have mentioned, but my query is that once you build the nuclear reactor you need fuel to operate them. SO how the fuel will be purchased?

You have a point but certainly every country that built a nuclear reactor for the first time did get it from somewhere else, obviously we too can manage but my point is there is no point in just sitting around and complaining.

Yes, you're bent over...this is only the beginning.
Happy Honeymoon!

Cheap post mate. Not expected from you regardless of any provocation.

All of us get carried away from time to time, i hope my post serves as a reminder.
