Pakistan virtually loses out on Indian dam

guys, have some shanti... This is run of river project for gen hydroelectricuty. As the joke goes, they can only say " ye indians paani se bijli nikaalke de rahe hain, humen nahin chiahiye aisa paani"
The indus water committee , consisting of indians and pakistanis, has certified that india has not done any violation of the treaty or stolen water till now. Infat hydroelevtricity has been very clearly mentioned in teh IWT. So I dont think Pak has case to go to war.

well pakistan should get a STAY ORDER before proceeding with the matter further because until hague comes up with something india will keep building! i guess before hague does anything it will be too late the project would be completed

We will take another stay order against that order and will complete the dam...

In fact, we can build dams in the rivers, provided the same should not affect Pakistan. What is the problem if we store water and use it which in turn flooding your land?

The problem comes in when the water is released from the dam .. either per needs or else.
This overloads the rivers and canals in Pakistan and leads to flooding.

What is the solution for this dam problem?? India cannot store more when the level of water crosses the danger mark. I think India and pakistan should extend their canal network to ease out the water flow.

It is a crime to waste water. And its a bigger crime to let water flood and kill. India and pak should talk and cooperate on this issue.

What is the situation in Pak this year??

Not really, the only concern is the timing of the first filling up of the dam since that might affect downstream flows thereby damaging agricultural prospects if wrongly timed. After that first filling, water will resume almost normal flow pattern since it cannot be stored further. Pakistan needs to work on this issue with India separately & not connect it to the wider Kashmir issue. The lack of trust is what makes this seem a bigger problem than it is.

Not a big issue at all. In my state same area as UAE, there are 43 rivers and at least 15-20 dams. We hardly face any such problems. In my nearby river, there are 4 Dams out of which 2 is in the neighboring state. If there is overflow in monsoon, we do get alerts from the authorities. It is basically lack of trust. And if the Dams are not there, the floods will be much move tragedy.

Depends on whether the river infrastructure is equipped to handle the increased flow..In pakistan's case, its not.
Also, what level of co-ordination exists between India and Pakistan on the dams.. Is India bound to consult Pakistan on water release rates??
If not, just opening the floodgates during monsoon will wreak havoc in Pakistan... as it may or may not happen in the next few months.

We are doing the project and winnign the legal battle because it is legal.

Not everything that Pakistan objects to becomes illegal maan.

Irrespective of the condition of the river banks or dykes erosion (as the case may be), dams are in fact water flow management tools that help in downstream management + consevation of water. So any dam will rather reduce the risk of natural catastrophes rather than enhance it. But I am sure that Pakistan knows that already and yet feel compulsioned to raise the objections.

Even Chinese warns us in case so such situations. Even if the DAM is not there, floods will be there in case of heavy monsoon. Here we got a chance to store/control the flow and utilize at maximum extent.

Pakistan's fear is that India will use dam & water flow as a tool to intimidate Pakistan. You have to trust us in this case, we never did so even in war time. After all all this K' cry is for water only...
