Pakistan utility helicopter.. your opinion..

Wishing lists aside. The utility helo for Pakistan has ALREADY been decided. It is the Kazan Mi-17 for the PA and the Ulan Ude examples for the PAF.

Some of helicopter army use are vintage and they belong to museum.... Army need helicopter in big number in war scenario the only reliable, faster and safer way of logistic transfer is helicopter because road infrastructure is destroyed big time in war don't go far army faced this problem in Waziristan...

In how many numbers we are buying Mi-17???

A bit off the topic, IMO Pakistani military believes in 'one tool for all trade'. We have C-130 since six decades for medium airlift, F-16s and Mirages for strike and Mi-17s for utility roles. Any chance to migrate from these "set mindsets" is very difficult; convincing the top command on replacement of these aircraft with other options available in market requires Money, additional time in training of crew, logistics/supply chain for this new type etc and above all mutual trust between supplier and customer for spares/logistics availability for longer period of time.

Other than these they also require economic and political stability, which we can't get if civil governments keeps on messing with establishment (and vice versa). Whatever broken form of democracy we have today is still better for our sustainable future, otherwise we would keep on repeating our history over and over again, which is not good for sustainable future of Pakistan.

Cheers.
