Pakistan, Turkey outline defence industry collaboration plans

Defense officials from Pakistan and Turkey have outlined plans to expand existing collaboration in defense development and production.

Following meetings between the two sides in Islamabad on 2 October, the Pakistan government said in a statement that Pakistan and Turkey would explore areas of co-operation including "communications, aircraft and shipbuilding".

The government indicated that details are expected to be concluded at the two countries' 11th High Level Military Dialogue Group to be held in Turkey in November. This forum has also established a defense industry working subgroup through which technology transfers and licensed production programmes are facilitated.

Existing defense industry collaboration between the two countries is focused on tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), through which the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) is manufacturing parts for Turkish Aerospace Industries' family of Anka UAVs.

In addition to industry ties, Pakistan and Turkey also cooperate on intelligence and training techniques.

Late but nice step Pakistan should gain from Turkish brothers in the field of attack hellis, fighter jets, shipbuilding, radars and FNS, Aselan, ANKA like technology weapons to make Moderanized Army,Airforce and Navy with advance systems.

At all sorts there's Turkish option for Pakistani Navy,

Ada-class corvette 2200-2400t ASW/Patrol

Í-class-frigate 3,500-4,500t ASW/ASUW/limited AAW

TF-2000-class Air defense frigate 7,000 AAW/ASUW/ASW/LACM

Turkish Type Assault Boat is underway

MILDEN, national submarine is under design process

Levent-class LHD, 28,000t (SH-60/F-35B...etc) contract is known to be in effect. But there's a high ToT from Spain.

First AAW ships will have RIM-156A SM-2ER Block IV and ESSM but the future variants will have national equalivents which opens the way up for foreign sale in long terms to Pakistan.

Atmaca ASM is the most possible product if PN is gonna upgrade its inventory when the budget gets some shape.

Most of big collaborations between Pakistan-Turkey is on Naval sector so hopping further cooperations on same sector is logical for me. Pakistan adopted one of Turkey's fleet tanker ship design from STM to construct it in Karacchi shipyard. In paralel to this development, We should have a look out on Turkey's warship projects proceeding officially.

Around 1000km diameter search/tracking capability, 800-900km diameter IFF range, SM2 Block IV(around 170km range) series missile, 250km range Atmaca anti-ship missiles, Gezgin LACM (1000+km) launch capabilities.
