If Pakistan can find 200-million USD a year for its space program, it can have a fledging space program in no time. Problem is Pakistani leaders lack the vision to dream big. It took ZA Bhutto years convincing the military about the dividends of a nuclear program. A similar personality is needed to convince both the military and political leadership today. Not only does it bring prestige and help improve Pakistan’s battered image problem, it will kick start a whole deal of scientific revitalization in the country. Overtime, the program will pay for itself like ISRO. One organization, apart of its navy, that India has miraculously run efficiently and competently.

Expending 200 million dollar a year for space race is waste for country like Pakistan. As you don't want to world ppower better use those fund for education. Making well educated generation will bring more profit then sending few astronaut to Mars.

Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman has announced that Pakistan will able to send astronauts into space with the collaboration of China within two years.

He was addressing as chief guest to the inauguration session of AirTech’17 conference, hosted by Air University, Islamabad.

AirTech’17 is Pakistan’s largest technical and scientific Olympiad, Airtech’17 being held at the Main Campus of Air University from 7th to 10th December.

On the occasion, Vice Chancellor of Air University AVM (r) Faaiz Amir and other speakers were also present.
Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman, in his keynote address on Leadership, Education & Society Development, said that the purpose of education system must be to introduce latest technologies and contribute something positive for the betterment of society as a whole.

He also urged the importance of industry-academia cooperation. In this regard, he asked industry professionals to guide universities what kind of skills are needed.

No doubt, Pakistani students are talented, intelligent and hard-working but to achieve success in life goals, unconditional faith, firm commitment and tireless struggle are essential. He said.

The Air Chief emphasized that most important segment of an education system must be character building of students. He said that every fellow human-being deserves respect equally. “Without practicing good values, there is no purpose of any kind of success,” he said, while adding that a role model leader must have courage to take tough decisions at the time of crisis.

The Air Chief, answering a question, disclosed that Pakistan is currently working to manufacture next generation aircraft with the support of Chinese experts. In addition, China is also providing technical support to Pakistan for launching satellite program.

He further said that Pakistan is annually manufacturing 16 to 20 JF-17 aircraft which are much better than F-16 planes in performance. Talking about importance of national defence, he said that currently Pakistan is on right track to curb terrorism. The Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman emphasized that security, stability and prosperity are interlinked in the today’s world.

On the occasion, Vice Chancellor of Air University AVM (r) Faaiz Amir highlighted the key aspects of the AirTech’17 conference.

He said that AirTech’17 is designed to serve as a platform where a fair and competitive environment will be provided to young students to design, build & present technical solutions and perform innovative tasks in respective fields by utilizing their creative skills blended with the scientific academic knowledge and technical capabilities.

Various topics related to robotics, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies also came under-discussion. A large number of students, academia and industry professionals attended the AirTech’17 conference

But if isro starts sending satellite for commercial uses like launchign satellites for othe rcoutnries , pvt channels etc then they can milk money from it ,a whole commerical industry opens lot more avenues for money inflow

Sending two men on board a Chinese space ship, what is the HUGE news in it? Yes it is a small step may be but what we really really need is a strong SLV program as it will be pay back the investment poured into it and will help at strategic level as well.

ISRO’s budget might be higher today but it was historically modest. I for one don’t buy the stated size of the Pakistani budget, number of experts believe its much higher and deserves actual recalculation. So that’s that. In terms of real money, I think if Pakistan can stop the wasteages and corruption, the money is already there. With the WOT winding down, more funds will naturally be available. It’s a matter of taking a bold step to move forward rather than continue stuck in defeatist and negative mindset. Too often, I have noticed Pakistanis tend to underestate and undervalue their own position and capacity to be great country.

Leaving the part on whose rocket they'll be flying, the next question would be for what purpose? Where is the Air Chief going to find outstanding PhD's in Physics / Chemistry / Metallurgy / Engineering disciplines who are also fit enough for astronaut training, or is it going to be gimmicks only and sifarshi fighter pilot would be strapping himself in?

Think about it. Do we have such people / such research projects in the pipeline? Or is it just that we have way too much dollars to burn. Or maybe it's going to be free joy ride?

we got manpower and material, depending on foreign suppliers for our needs would cost much more.
For example nigeria is going to buy two satellite for $700 million.
Considering how much we spend on defense hardware from foreign sellers, I would say ISRO is value for money.
