ISLAMABAD - The government of Pakistan would mobilise all available resources to seek approval from the World Trade Organization (WTO) regarding Eurperon Union’s concessions for 75 products and in this regard Islamabad would also seek New Delhi support over the issue.
The Secretary Commerce, Zafar Mahmood informed the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Commerce Thursday that Pakistan would make negotiations with India on EU concession for 75 products in Commerce Secretaries talks next month (April) in Islamabad. The NA body met under the chair of Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan.
It is worth mentioning here that EU offered unilateral concession over 75 commodities for Pakistan after the unprecedented floods in the country in 2010, however India and some other countries strongly reacted on this facility given to Islamabad and challenge it in the WTO. The case is still in the WTO and after its decision it would need EU parliament approval.
The Secretary Commerce informed the NA body that government would plea the case with the Indian government in the upcoming talks. He further informed that Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and Foreign Minister had already written letter to other countries, which are creating problems for Pakistan in this concession, to get their support.
Zafar Mahmood informed the body that EU announced special scheme for Less Developed Countries (LDCs), and those who qualify could avail the concession from it. However on that time, Pakistan, India and China could not qualify for scheme because their population exceeds 50 million, which was pre-requisite for this concession. However Pakistan got this facility after the post floods situation of the country, he said and added that Pakistan also tried to get GSP plus concession of the EU but could not achieved.

is this a google translation of an original article. I'm no grammar or spelling bee- but it's horribly written. "Eurperon Union’s " "but could not achieved."

anyways the other countries objected because it would undercut their exports ...ala economic reasons.

.
And India, should definitely not give it..why should Pakistan get aid at the expense of Indian traders and traders from other countries.

If Pakistani goods get preferential tax exemptions in Europe..they would eat into the Indian good's market.

If Europe wants to aid Pakistan, they should directly provide aid to it..but not at the cost of other exporters.

.
The same happened when European Union approached the WTO for preferential access to Pakistani textiles. India and BD both jointly brought it down.

Help to a country in need is always appreciated but it should not be at the expense of other countries.

. . . .
:coffee: India should support Pakistan. That is a step toward peace.

They don`t know what peace is.
Their main mission is let Pakistan have under huge pressure and under difficulties and of course destabilize Pakistan as well.
Indian don`t know meaning about peace. They are propaganda makers against Pakistan.
