Pakistan to receive $3 billion from Friends in October: Qureshi

. .
PPP GDP won't be the correct one to use anyway. Nominal GDP is the right number to use and thats around 170B or something.

Actually, you can use PPP easily because the amount in dollars will be converted to amount in Rupees upon receiving, and depending on the time of the transaction, it should reflect the value of Rupee at that instant.

We are not comparing 3 billion USD between Pakistan, India and many other countries, but relative to how ONLY Pakistan will use it.

For that case, assuming PPP method should be fine.

But in anycase, it's not 10%. 2% or less than 1% depending on the method used.

By judging from your user-name, maybe you guys should have taken Math classes a bit more seriously.

using the direct rupee figure, pak budget is 38B dollars.
3B is 3/38 = 8% of budget, which is what i had originally asked.

plus if this truly were dollar denominated debt being added to the country's balance sheet, the nominal gdp would've been operative and not gdp ppp. as this is a grant/aid, you really don't need to care.

here you go,

DAWN.COM | Pakistan | Budget sets optimistic tax target

from one of the most respected news sources in Pakistan, and also the oldest.

Thanks for the source. 10% was calculated using the total revenue for 10-11 which are projected at Rs. 2574 bn.

Even if you calculate using the Total Outlay it is 7.5% and not 0.02% as "Pakistani Nationalist" stated.

@ Pakistani Nationalist: Do you need math lessons ? I can teach for free. :)

ask Uncle Amreeka to waive/pay our debts
50% of our problems can be solved

.
And also ask them to bottle feed this nation for the rest of our surviving days .. We are quick to hatch plans with them and when plans start to show cracks .. we start blaming the americans .. Man up Nation, we were 50% included in the mess that we started. Pay off the debt, its time we stop talking Islam Burqa and Islam Qadiani and other crap and get with the basic program of Islam. That interest will keep us down for a long time to come.

Don't you think the 3 billion is too less? I mean, per year cost of WOT is more than that, not to mention the loss to economy due to lagging foreign investment??

Yes!!
Thats less than our military expenditure.

I wish this "aid" was rather recognized in terms of reimbursement cost for the huge cost and great contribution that Pakistan has made to the war against terror. Its the world's war that we are fighting and we must be compensated for that. Before recognizing it as an aid, one would need to over-look 3.08 trillion dollars loss that Pakistan has suffered because of participating in this war. This amount is not even 2% compensation of what we have exhausted.

Link please ..this amount is bigger than USA GDP ..........
