Pakistan to open Ghulam Khan border terminal with Afghanistan, link Russia

You are confusing the Afghan government with the people of Afghanistan. Next government incoming will have excellent relations with Pakistan because they represent the rural Afghan Pukhtoon majority, not just Kabul.

Dont mistake common interests with some brotherly love of Afghan Taliban. They have not once issued a statement that they accept durand line. Once they come into power all bets are off hence the reason Pakistan invested over a billion dollars to fence and fortify the border with afghanistan. Only reason Pakistan is investing in Taliban so that they can get rid of American foothold otherwise afghans are afghans whether Taliban or Ghani stooge govt. Never confuse interests with these fake asss statements of brotherly love. Pakistan always comes first rest can go screw themselves. Give them access to Pakistani products which can boost our economy.

That is ok for you to believe, however I don't believe that.

Afghanistan and Pakistan are brotherly countries. Even I don't accept the Durand line, I believe as Ch. Rehmat Ali did, that Pakistan must expand into Afghanistan and spread influence in Central Asia

If you want to be a middling power, at the mercy of stronger forces around you, then stay small and unimportant, otherwise dare to dream big, to promote your state ideology, and unite with those who share your vision, Pakistan will become a major global power.

It is my firm belief that history is pushing us towards this eventuality.

You need to read our history with Afghans if you want perspective on our relations with them. I am not saying we shouldn't have good relations with Afghans but saying that we should develop brotherly love in naive. We should give them economic incentives and access to our ports but saying we should drop our guard around them is plain stupid. Create shared strategic and economic environment where they will have to cooperate for their own sake based on their and our interests. Dont get embroiled this Ummah Chumah concept bcz by now we all should have an idea that there is no such thing in this world. We must strive for unity but always keep yourself armed to teeth just in case anyone gets out of line.

Rest assured i respect you opinion but i dont agree with it. In the End Pakistan should always come first for all of us.

You are referring to our negative relationships with Barakzai monarchy, Najibullah, and currently falling ANA/NDS Kabul and NA government.

I take a religious, racial, and historical view on the subject. Afghanistan and Pakistan have been one country throughout the long span of history, we have shared much more in common than any other country.

There is nothing unique to Afghanistan which makes them bad people. I mean, there are plenty of Pakistanis who are also criminals and mafias, but do they define us as a nation?

Thanks for respecting my opinion brother. This is more like an eventuality, there are still some events which need to take place like the fall of Kabul to the Taliban, putting India on defensive on LoC, unification of our front with Iran, TAP pipeline, and Afghanistan joining CPEC, and most importantly a stable internal situation for Pakistani politics.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday announced it would reopen two more border crossings with Afghanistan to boost trade between the neighbours, a move welcomed by Kabul as an important step towards “development of the bilateral trade”.

Mohammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative on Afghanistan, said the crossings were likely to be reopened before mid-July. Last month Islamabad reopened the Torkham, Chaman, and Ghulam Khan border crossings, after they were closed in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Pakistan will open Angor Adda and Kharlachi border crossings for trade with Afghanistan. After necessary arrangements by both sides, the two crossings are likely to become operational on 12 July,” Sadiq tweeted.

“In the spirit of brotherly cooperation and regional connectivity, Pakistan shared Torkham and Chaman border terminal master plans with Afghanistan to enable concurrent and complimentary development on Afghan side,” he added.

“An enhanced compatibility in trade infrastructure on both sides will help realise shared goal of optimum trade, connectivity and people to people facilitation between the two countries.”

Sadiq’s Afghan counterpart, Atif Mashal welcomed Islamabad’s announcement, calling it an important step. “We are certain that the opening of more crossing points will help in the development of bilateral trade between both countries,” Mashal tweeted.

Pakistan is one of Afghanistan’s major trading partners and the largest market for Afghan exports. However, the trade volume has been impacted by frequent border closures. In May, Pakistan also opened its strategic Gwadar port in Balochistan for Afghan transit trade.

Pakistan and Afghanistan share 18 crossing points, with the most commonly used ones being Torkham and Chaman. However, multiple border points have been closed for several months at various times since 2014.
