Pakistan to increase troops in Saudi Arabia

It's a paradox of fearmongering authoritarian/military rule: to clamp down hard means suppressing the desire to change and subsequent aggression of the populace, yet long-term that also robs the military of the courage needed to act and ultimately preserve the State. The result is disintegration: invasion from without and/or civil war from within.

We all must respect the right of Pakistanis to run their country as they see fit, for better or worse.

A man should point out when the will of his friend turns to madness and evil and work to convince him to change his mind, or oppose him if he does not.

Only up to a point. And that point has been passed.

Do you consider yourself one of the sanest Pakistanis here?
Of course not. I believe in ijtehad and freedom, everyone should have his or her say and modern ways should guide us rather than backward mullahs. Ijtehad itself is a modern concept and according to it I or anyone else should assume nothing-including superiority of us/me/him/whomever or our cause. That does not mean I develop a positive view of Americans. Open your eyes and see how the world sees you. Your nation is the biggest bully and hegemon in the world arena.

You didn't understand my post. My response was with reference to the blame against Zia-ul-Haq for killing Palestinians without mentioning the full facts why, if he indeed killed so many Palestinians (hint: they were doing the same in Jordan, what TTP is doing in Pakistan), hence my remark that 50 years down the road someone might say the same against Raheel Sharif without mentioning what TTP was doing in Pakistan.

No Sir absolutely not what Gen Zia did we are facing it today Gen Raheel is not power Hungary he don't want to be ameer ul mom e neen.

At last Pakistan has joined anti Iran coalition, so if the Arab masters asked your army to fight the Iranians then will you refuse? I think not, at the time when sanctions on Iran has been lifted, Iran will become resurgent, US will come close to Iran and gradually dump the Saudis
XI jinping has signed $100 billion business deal with iran, just $ 45 billion CPEC with deeper than ocean higher than sky friend.

.
We can,t we already have made commitments to Saudis by secret deals by not doing our part we would be be backtracking from our bilateral deal

There are also rumors of Saudi requesting Nuclear umbrella

We must walk a fine line between Iran and Saudi

how is it secret if you know about it and not only know the secret you also know the ramification of not abiding by it.

Pakistan will not send ground troops as part of Saudi-led military alliance: Aziz
MATEEN HAIDER — UPDATED 22 MINUTES AGO
ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, on Tuesday said Pakistan will not send ground troops to Saudi Arabia or any other country after having joined the 34-state Islamic military alliance led by Saudi Arabia.

In a briefing to the National Assembly Foreign Affairs Committee at the Parliament House, Aziz said all matters between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have been settled.

He said Pakistan will be sharing intelligence with Saudi Arabia to counter terrorism.

Aziz told the committee that Pakistan is playing its role to defuse tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

“An emergency meeting of OIC foreign ministers has been summoned in Jeddah where Pakistan would present important proposals to reduce Iran-Saudi tensions.”

The adviser said Pakistan wishes for peaceful settlement of the Syrian conflict and supports all efforts for resumption of dialogue.

The chairman of the committee, Awais Leghari, told media personnel after the briefing that the committee lauded Pakistan’s balanced stance on the Saud-Iran conflict.

The announcement comes just a day after Saudi Defence Minister and Deputy Crown Prince, Mohammad bin Salman, visited Pakistan and held meetings with army chief Gen Raheel Sharif and premier Nawaz Sharif.

While Gen Raheel Sharif assured Prince Mohammad bin Salman of a “strong response” to threats to his country’s territorial integrity, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif called for resolving its crisis with Iran through diplomacy and offered Pakistan’s good offices in this regard.

“Pakistan has historically pursued the policy of promoting brotherhood among member states of the OIC. Pakistan has also always expressed its readiness to offer its good offices to brotherly Muslim countries for resolution of their differences,” the prime minister was quoted by his office as having told the Saudi deputy crown prince.

The Saudi defence minister's Islamabad visit had come just three days after foreign minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir held meetings with PM Nawaz and army chief Gen Raheel Sharif to discuss Pakistan's role in the 34-nation military alliance.

Military alliance
Saudi Arabia last month announced the formation of a 34-state Islamic military coalition to combat terrorism, according to a joint statement published on state news agency SPA.

“The countries here mentioned have decided on the formation of a military alliance led by Saudi Arabia to fight terrorism, with a joint operations center based in Riyadh to coordinate and support military operations,” the statement said.

A long list of Arab countries such as Egypt, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, together with Islamic countries Turkey, Malaysia, Pakistan and Gulf Arab and African states were mentioned.

The announcement cited “a duty to protect the Islamic nation from the evils of all terrorist groups and organisations whatever their sect and name which wreak death and corruption on earth and aim to terrorise the innocent.”

Iran, Saudi Arabia's archrival for influence in the Arab world, was absent from the states named as participants, as proxy conflicts between the two regional powers rage from Syria to Yemen.

Tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia have lately exacerbated after the latter executed a prominent Shia cleric on terror charges, causing widespread condemnation. Protesters in Tehran ransacked a Saudi embassyin retaliation, resulting in Saudi Arabia and several countries from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) severing diplomatic ties with Iran.
This news release is for public consumption only. Alliances are formed after considerable negotiations which have been going on since the Arab spring and failure to topple president Assad's Government and thirdly never ending proxy war being directed against KSA-GCC regimes in the region.

The following is written by me in different thread. (HAPPYCANUCK)

In my opinion neither Iran and KSA have realized that USA, Russia and China are on the same page when it comes to keeping the spread of Wahhabi's ideology at bay by engaging them in regional conflict.

Whenever Pakistan's Army troops arrive on Saudi soil they will be under Saudi command and Saudi Army uniform as well in order to maintain law and order situation under control in Pakistan.

The day Pak armed forces are actually doing the fighting alongside the Saudis you could make such a tall claim. Until then, I would take the word of Pakistani officials as the official word.

Pakistan is done being a cannon fodder for outsiders. You better get used to this notion. We wish the Saudis and their American allies the best of luck in the fight against ISIS. We're never going to be any part of this mess.
I hope you are right and I do not want to see the continuation of this mess in ME. But time will tell if I am wrong in my reading the Geo politics of the region.

I copied my previous comments from different thread in which Pakistan's Minister denied any rumors about sending Pakistan's Army troops but the latest news on this thread proved that I was right about the denial was only for public consumption. Now looking forward I am of the opinion that any type of conflict in the region will be a disaster for humanity and every effort should be made to ease the tension regardless what has been the history of relationship between KSA and Iran.

KSA and her partners should try to accommodate the wishes of their Shia citizens which will go long way in gaining the trust of Iranian religious/political leadership. And ease the tension which should lead to building cordial relationship where economic and cultural exchanges can take place. The relationship should be based on "Accept and Respect" principal. in other words the religious and political leadership from both side give a try to R&P principal with out interfering into each others internal affairs. I hope your PM and Army Chief's mission to Tehran and Riyadh is successful.
