Pakistan to import 4000 MW electricity from Tajikistan
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Water and Power Liaquat Ali Jatoi said Tuesday that Pakistan will import 4000 MW electricity from Tajikistan via Afghanistan through the transmission line more than 900 kilometers transmission line.
Addressing a news conference, he said that a total of $ 600 million will be spent at this project.
He added that the international financial institutions, Asian Development Bank (ADB), Islamic Development Bank and World Bank will provide advisory and analytical assistance, as well as some
investment assistance in this project.
Deputy Prime Minister Republic of Tajikistan Asadullo Ghulomov, Minister of energy republic of Tajikistan Mr Yorov Abdullo, Adviser of Primer Minister of Kyrgyz republic Mr Omarol, Secretary Ministry of Water and Power Mr Ashfaq Mahmood, Deputy Minister Administration, Mohammad Jalil Ahams and others were present on this occasion.
Jatoi said that Pakistan will increase its demand of import from 10 to 12 percent every year.
He said that Pakistan has already signed a MOU with Tajikistan to import 1000MW of power.
