How Is Polio Spread?
Polio is a highly contagious illness that can spread easily from person to person. How is polio spread? In most cases, polio is spread through contact with stool from an infected person (for example, eating food that is contaminated with poliovirus). Less commonly, polio transmission occurs through contact with respiratory droplets or saliva.
How Is Polio Spread? -- An Overview
Polio is a highly contagious illness that can spread easily from person to person. In fact, when a person is infected with polio, it is expected that polio transmission among susceptible household contacts will occur in nearly 100 percent of children and over 90 percent of adults. Polio is also known as:

Poliomyelitis
Infantile paralysis
Polio disease.

When a person is infected with poliovirus, the virus resides in the intestinal tract and mucus in the nose and throat. Poliovirus transmission most often occurs through contact with stool of this infected person (known as fecal-oral transmission). Less frequently, polio transmission can occur through contact with infected respiratory secretions or saliva (oral-oral transmission).

How Is Polio Spread? -- Fecal-Oral Polio Transmission
Polio transmission most often occurs through contact with stool from an infected person. This spread of poliovirus can happen in one of several ways, which include:

Eating food or drinking liquids that are contaminated with poliovirus. Poliovirus is commonly found in sewage water.

Touching surfaces or objects contaminated with poliovirus (for instance, by changing diapers), and then placing the contaminated hand in the mouth.

Sharing foods or eating utensils with someone infected with poliovirus.

How Is Polio Spread? -- Oral-Oral Polio Transmission
Less commonly, polio transmission occurs through contact with respiratory droplets or saliva. When an infected person sneezes or coughs, droplets spray into the air. The infected mucus or saliva can land in other people's noses or throats when they breathe or put their fingers in their mouth, nose, or eyes after touching an infected surface.

How Is Polio Spread? -- Polio Transmission and Polio Symptoms
Following polio transmission, a person does not immediately become sick. Once the poliovirus enters the body, it travels to the back of the throat, nose, and intestines, where it begins to multiply and travel to other parts of the body. After 7-14 days (on average), symptoms of polio can begin. This period between polio transmission and the beginning of polio symptoms is called the polio incubation period. The incubation period can be as short at 4 days or as long as 35 days.

Its Good that india is giving vaccination to every pakistani children below five years of age at the border posts itself both at LOC and at Wagha-atari.

Will Zadari and Co also be banned from going abroad? if so i am all for it. After all its the government who has failed miserably in everything.

.
There wont be any ban. The senators are just using scare tactic, nothing more.

. .
Instead of finding ways International community is working towards isolation.

It has been clear that Pakistan government is indeed serious on implementing polio eradication programmes and are facing threat towards implementing it.

Polio has been prevalent in the region since decades, its not suddenly spreading like an epidemic from Pakistan towards other countries.

If any decision regarding banning the travelling by normal people is implemented, it can be translated as rubbing salt to injury to an issue which has got out of hand from the authorities due to home grown threats.

it was great achievement for india that we successfully control the polio and this success made our project "do boond jindagi ki" in world greatest project when you know it cover 116 crore people. but if see our neighbor pakistan they completely failed to implement this project.

. .
Bad news for the politicians as they will now have to give "some" funds from their (sorry, national) treasury means less money left for them.

Or will they jsut ignore the public as usual and not spend as much as is needed to be spent on the public as per the constitution?
