Pakistan to export 500,000 MT additional rice to China
January 8, 2020

ISLAMABAD, Jan 8 (APP): After successfully completing the export quota of 250,000 MT of rice to China, Pakistan will now export additional 500,000 MT of rice to the country, Advisor to Prime Minister on Commerce, Investment and Industries Abdul Razak Dawood said on Wednesday.

In his tweet, the Advisor said that after completing the export quota, the government of Pakistan approached government of China for an additional 500,000 MT of rice which was accepted by the Chinese government.

He also requested all members of Rice Exports Association of Pakistan (REAP) to take advantage of this golden opportunity.

Its good that china is now giving preference to Pakistan. We need to increase our exports and china is the biggest market.

.
250,000 + 500,000 = 750,000 metric tons.

If they can sell at US$400 per ton, the value would be US$300 million. Just about able to pay for one type 054A frigate. :-)

What's the cost for the type 052E/P?

The additional quota of 500,000 mt wouldn't add anything to the overall export figure for the year. Currently Pakistan sells all its Irri-6 rice in roughly nine months to Africa, China and other parts of the world. The rice we produce finishes for export in roughly nine months. This means that we actually wait for the new crop to come so as to start exporting again.

Therefore, even the quota wasn't enhanced by China by 500,000 mt we won't have anything surplus rice left.

China is a very good friend of Pakistan and it is a huge market as well we must search for other items in order to genuinely benefit our economy.
