Fine here goes the list of expected and underway deals between India-Russia -- 300 fifth Gen aircrafts, 66 Fulcrums upgrade , 3 frigates on order, Tender for 3 submarines , unknown number of Transport choppers expected to be ordered, Attack chopper tender , 1000 more T-90 tanks to be license built, MRTA (Medium range Transport aircraft) JV between UAC and HAL, Nuke submarine lease, Brahmos JV, Civilian Nuke deals etc.

These are the known deals and there are plenty underground deals.

Not saying that Russia will never do business with Pakistan - but it will be limited to toys like the Mi-17 as you said.

The Chinese are your best bet.



There is nothing Russian in it (Il-78s).

Our relations with the Russians are better than they have ever been, I must admit that India has been a much larger market for Russian armament since it's independence and squeezing in between them will be an issue but right now, the Russians have a state of the art weapon system with no one to sell it to. Chances are, they won't be too picky about who they sell it to.

The more PDF members are averse to F-16s daily, the more F-16 is being loved and chosen by your government. Why is that? Definitely there must be something in it that is promising as compared to your recent fancy of Chinese fighters, isn't it? You must admit; F-16 is a very capable fighter and has proven itself.

The article would appear to indicate that the option for 18 more new Block 52's is being exercised to cover the reduction in the planned F-16 MLU's, from 60 to 35, in part due to the unavailability of the F-16's that were supposed to be released by the USN.

Seen in that light, this decision, if it ends up true, would technically be a replacement of 'planned MLU F-16's' with 'Block 52 F-16's', and not an entirely new order.

The way I look at it is we are owed over 10-20 billion dollars in expenses for war, and other money cost we have been owed since 1990

So this is a natural means to get something of value for our cash

18 more F16 C/D and 2 OHP frigates and 4 new orions for Navy are much needed elements for our cost

Of course hard cash is also appreciated but , I think I don't mind getting assets of value

This is a duel beneficial deal

a) Keeps jobs in USA for F16 company
b) Pakistan gets something of value for its money owed
c) Less objections as this deal 36-50 F16 has already been approved by congress

So what we are looking at is just an agreement on Pakistan's side to say ok fine we will execute the approval for the order we did had the option

DEAL IS ALREADY DONE FOR 100 JF17 block 2 Thunders !!!


In relations to JF17 thunder and J10B - well these programs are independent

I think provided there is REAL COOPERATION - then we have a good understanding


What is guaranteed is 100 JF17 thunders from China 2011
If we get extra 18 F16 from US 2011 sure we are still owed 30-60 planes
What is guaranteed is 36 J10B from China 2014

The F16 platform with the modernization programs is still viable for our nation for 15 years and if we have 80-100 F16 C/D its a very good BALANCED airforce

Also I think we need to replace 100-200 planes that are old so the sooner we get more newer planes the better equipped we are

Well I think - F16 C/D is a separate option in order to enhance our Air force's performance

Its completely separate process then JF17 thunder , and J10B - so I feel we are ok to let this option stay also this helps to modernize our air-force
While its not a long term option but we are safe with a 80 strong Air-force of F16 even in defensive role

Its a wonderful - option - for 2011 estimates , its great also that we will just get the planes we origionally ordered replaced rightfully and that concludes the matter from 1990's

For me the big news is second OHP class frigate in the package for our navy

18 F16 C/D , plus 1 OHP frigate (refurbished and weapon upgraded) , and 3 P3 orions
plus weapons for F16 C/D is good option

1.2 billion for 18 F16 , missiles, weapons, support , engine spares
1.2 billion for 3 More Orions (Navy)
1.3 billion for x 2 OHP frigate, Harpoons , Torpedoes, air defence

Around in 4 Bn we are getting only few F16s rest of 3 (old) orions and frigate (with few missiles)

as compare in India in 10 Bn

they are getting 126 Advance fighter.. amazing man! school kay bachoon ko Pakistan Airforce ka decision making karni chahye i am damn pretty sure tjhey will do much better decision !

Their priorities has changed since 1991, they are now looking for new customers but careful while not disturbing long relations, same situation with Pakistan. Russia criticized & put banned on various military equipments because of Pakistan-Ukraine military purchases under US influences. Ukraine itself much dependent over Russian military industries over its production so why not we should look for independent military production supplier rather then any assembling production market? No doubt that Pakistan can't compete Indo-Russian relations but there should be solid & progressive start from our side. We can evaluate current Russian trend toward India by Admiral Gorshkov project, their new capitalism tendency provides way for future new market.

Now it's upon Pakistan, how he want to present itself in that new market but bewaring that Russia is not US & we need to understand them before maki9ng any step.

F16's have become the symbol of Pakistani stupidity - these armed forces would rather Pakistan remain in constant peril rather than end their relationship with US arms manufacturers and US security apparatus -- and then these say shameless armed forces say that they stand with the people of Pakistan - shameless!

This is a NO BRAINER for me THE F16/52 beats both the Thunder 7 FC20 IN ANY combat scenario.

BUT you will have to overcome sanctions at a moments notice.

CAN PAF afford to have 25% of fleet in constant spares threat or worse vital information re source codes etc leaked to india

They will have to be picky if they want to stop the American/Israeli offensive into our defence market.

If the French can block out the Avionics deal for Rafale and Germany the Marlin bid for EFT its a no-brainer what the Russkies would do.

My take on this issue is - China is the future for Pak defence supplies if it needs some sort of independence unlike the various controls that are placed on the F-16s. The ACM likes Rafale personally but I doubt if Pak would be able to afford them in the near future.
